Clam Digging

Tentative Fall dates have been announced!

The Pacific Ocean, Columbia River, Willapa Bay, and surrounding tributaries make Washington's southwestern corner a national fishing and foraging hot spot.

Pack up the whole family and forage for your own food while you take part in this timeless Pacific northwest tradition - razor clam digging! Razor clams are delicious and fun to dig for! If you've never been clamming before, learn more here!

Local Tip: Want to avoid crowds and get the best rates? Consider an off-peak dig (Sun-Thurs). Checkout out our places to stay pages, where you can find all lodging options.

With all the early/late tides you'll want to stay overnight!

If clam digging isn't your jam, sample the full bounty of foraged goods. Dine at local restaurants serving up seasonal mushroom dishes, pick blueberries at our U-Pick farm, or watch farmers harvest fresh cranberries from the bog, and even take some home for yourself!

Cranberry Harvest

Cranberry harvest has been a part of the culture of Washington's Long Beach Peninsula for over a century. This tart berry brings more excitement than you might expect as the bogs are flooded for harvest and roadside stalls begin to pop up.

The peak of activity comes October 9th and 10th (2021) with the annual Harvest Festival. Plan a fall trip to the peninsula and get in on the cranberry fun!

Lewis and Clark's Westward Journey

You could hardly consider a visit to the Long Beach Peninsula complete without mention of Lewis and Clark. In mid-November of 1805, the Lewis and Clark party, formally known as the Corps of Discovery, explored the Peninsula.

Today, you can experience some of the same landmarks the Corps of Discovery came across as well as find monuments commemorating their journey.

Check out five ways to follow in their footsteps during your visit to the Long Beach Peninsula!
