Welcome to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department Newsletter
All of us at the San Diego County Sheriff's Department are committed to making sure that each of you has a safe and enjoyable holiday season.
We have started our annual "Holiday Watch" campaign throughout the county which is designed to address common holiday crimes. You will learn more about this crime prevention program in this month's newsletter.
Getting behind the wheel of a vehicle when you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs can have disastrous consequences for yourself and everyone else on the road. This holiday season, pay extra attention for other drivers who may present a hazard to you and your loved ones.
While many of us have family and friends to spend the holidays with, some of our neighbors will spend these coming weeks alone. The Sheriff's You Are Not Alone program is a FREE service for seniors and the disabled. Read on to learn more about how this great service can make a huge difference in someone's life.
On behalf of the entire Sheriff's Department, thank you for your continued partnership with not only our agency, but all law enforcement in San Diego County.
Stay safe,
Bill Gore, Sheriff
San Diego County

The caller makes it as convincing and frightening as possible. You are told there is a warrant for your arrest for missed jury duty, unpaid debt or traffic ticket. To avoid arrest, you have send money or buy a prepaid debit card.
IT IS A SCAM.
These scams play on your fears. They even manipulate the caller ID to make it look like it's coming from a Sheriff's Station, Substation, facilities or court offices.
As a reminder, if you get a call from someone claiming to be a deputy asking for money,
HANG UP. No employee of the Sheriff's Department will ever ask for money over the phone. If you really are in trouble with the law. You will know it. We will be knocking on your door. Warrants cannot be resolved over the phone, you have to go to court.
People with outstanding warrants are encouraged to turn themselves in Monday through Friday during business hours at any one of the Sheriff's Court Facilities. For more information or to check if you have an outstanding warrant, visit:
