National Night Out Brings Community and Public Safety Agencies Together

Sheriff's deputies fanned out across the City on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 visiting with and listening to community members, enjoying good food and even dancing salsa during the 38th annual National Night Out. Started in 1984, National Night Out builds neighborhood camaraderie through food, parties and public safety exhibits and demonstrations. Sheriff's Office staff posted to seven different locations across the City from Bayview to North Beach, the Richmond district and sites in between.

Cultivating Women Leaders

The Sheriff's Office salutes Sgt. Y. Williams who just completed an eight-month rigorous leadership course at the Sherman Block Leadership Institute, a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) program designed to stimulate personal growth, leadership, and ethical decision-making in California law enforcement front-line supervisors Sgt. Williams is shown with POST Executive Director Manuel Alvarez, Jr.

SFSO Provides Mutual Aid to Combat Dixie Fire

The Sheriff's Office has provided mutual aid to help with the Dixie Fire, the second largest fire in California history touching five counties and consuming almost 750,000 acres. Pictured above are some of the young children who have been displaced due to the destruction. The Sheriff's Office supports firefighting operations through patrol services and roadblocks. The Dixie Fire Fund has been established to provide emergency hardship support and community disaster relief to areas impacted by the wildfires. Click here to donate to the Dixie Fire Fund.

SFSO Honors Mentoring & Peer Support Leader

Assistant Sheriff Tanzanika Carter honored Erik Dieters who has led the Mentoring and Peer Support (MAPS) program under the Department of Public Health over the last five years.  Erik also has served as a key member of Jail Health Services’ Reentry team, providing essential support to clients suffering from serious mental illness and substance use disorders.  We thank Erik for his service to the City and County of San Francisco and the Sheriff’s Office through his work with the justice-involved population.
