San Gabriel, CA – The City of San Gabriel will welcome the Year of the Ox at the virtual 2021 San Gabriel Lunar New Year Festival in an online celebration on February 12, 2021. The 7th annual virtual San Gabriel Lunar New Year Festival will feature a video celebration, an interactive family game night and a community wishing tree.
In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s celebration will be virtual, allowing our community to celebrate the Year of the Ox in the comfort of their homes. Our video celebration will feature special messages from the San Gabriel City Council, federal, state and local dignitaries and a highlight of prior San Gabriel Lunar New Year celebrations. The video will debut on the City’s YouTube channel at
YouTube.com/CityofSanGabriel on February 12 at 6:00 p.m.
“We’re happy to continue our annual San Gabriel Lunar New Year tradition this year in a new online format,” said San Gabriel Mayor Denise Menchaca. “Though we’re not able to meet in person, I encourage everyone to participate in our virtual festival as we welcome the year of the Ox.”
An interactive game night will be held virtually afterwards from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with bingo, crafts and community building. The event is free but registration is required on
SanGabrielCity.com.
Finally, members of our community are invited to submit a message of hope or a wish for our Wishing Tree in front of the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse Plaza, located at 320 South Mission Drive. Messages may be submitted across the City's social media channels by February 11.
