As we get closer to the San Gabriel Lunar New Year Festival on February 16, we wanted to give you an update on this year’s entertainment, food, and crafts along with information about parking.

Help us build a playground at Smith Park on March 14
The Community Services Department, along with the Asian Youth Center, has been awarded a grant through KaBOOM! to build a new playground at Smith Park with funding from the CarMax Foundation.

We plan to build the playground on March 14 - but we need your help. If you are 18 years of age or older, please get in touch with Christina Alatorre at calatorre@sgch,org or via telephone at 626.308.2875 to volunteer.
Experience the Alan Chan Moo-sic Group
in the Mission Playhouse
Come visit the Mission Playhouse during this Saturday's Lunar New Year Festival at 3:00 p.m. for a free jazz performance by the Alan Chan Moo-sic Group.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Chan's compositions draw on elements of both European and classical music and the sounds of his Chinese heritage.
Join us for our Community Health & Wellness Fair May 9
May is “National Physical Fitness Month” and, to celebrate, the Community Services Department will host the 1 st Community Health & Wellness Fair on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The fair will take place in front of the Mission Playhouse where participants can gather free information on health and wellness services available throughout the San Gabriel Valley. Services available on the day of the event may include but are not limited to, blood pressure checks, glucose testing, spinal screenings and hearing screenings.
Prepare for emergencies at the 211 LA Preparedness Fair
211 LA, the City of San Gabriel, Los Angeles County and community partners will be at the Mission Playhouse on February 23 offering families resources and information on how to prepare for disaster and crisis situations.

Attractions include free hands-only CPR training, an earthquake science and safety talk, a free lunch and many preparedness resources.
