Superintendent's Message

Welcome to our first monthly newsletter! I am excited to be able to bring you a monthly update of all things happening within San Gabriel Valley ROP and our partner districts.

As we enter the final stretch of the school year, May is a powerful reminder of what makes our work so meaningful - students demonstrating their growth, educators going above and beyond, and partnerships that bring career technical education (CTE) to life for our students.

In March, we were honored to welcome Dr. Torres, California’s Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction, to visit our CTE pathways on our partner district campuses. Her visit underscored the growing recognition of CTE as a critical component of California’s educational and economic future. It was an opportunity to showcase the innovation happening in our classrooms and the strength of our community partnerships.

On April 30th, we were proud to host our annual Education Foundation Scholarship Awards Breakfast. It was an inspiring morning as we recognized six outstanding students—one from each of our partner districts, who exemplify the promise of CTE. We also honored our Business Partner of the Year, Mt. SAC’s High School Articulation Department, whose commitment helps ensure our programs remain relevant, rigorous, and aligned to workforce needs. These partnerships are not supplemental to our mission, they are essential.

Across our programs, students are now stepping into the spotlight through CTSO competitions. These experiences are where learning becomes real: students apply technical skills, demonstrate leadership, and compete alongside peers from across the state. We are excited to see how they represent our programs and the professionalism they bring to their fields.

May is also a time to recognize the people who make this work possible. During Teacher Appreciation and Classified Appreciation Weeks, we celebrate the dedication, expertise, and care our staff bring to students every day. Their work is the foundation of every student's success story.

As we close out the year, I encourage all of us to take a moment to reflect on the impact of our collective efforts. Together, we are not only preparing students for graduation, we are preparing them for confident, successful futures in a rapidly evolving workforce.

Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to our students.
