Save the date! City of San Gabriel is pleased to offer the San Gabriel Mental Wellness Expo on Sunday, October 1, 2023. It will take place from 12pm-4pm in the Mission Playhouse Plaza. Thanks to the HEAR Commission in partnership with the City of San Gabriel presents the Mental Wellness Expo!

Dumpling and Beer Festival

This year’s Dumpling and Beer Festival will return to the Historic Mission District on Friday, October 6 from 6:00pm – 10:00pm. Sample some of the San Gabriel Valley’s dumpling eateries and enjoy a variety of craft beers from the region’s breweries! This event is FREE to the public. Wristbands are required for guests(ages 21 and over) attending the beer garden.

The City will launch the application process October 1^st through November 17^thfor the Human Equity, Access and Relations (HEAR) Commission. This commission is to advance and advocate for equity, access, diversity, social justice, safety, mutual appreciation, increased cultural competency, positive inter-group relations, and respect for all members of the San Gabriel community. Public Works Accomplishments

Crews assisted with a trash cleanup at Newby & Stevens after an Athens trash truck dumped it collected waste that caught on fire inside the truck. SGFD was on scene to extinguish the flaming trash followed by Public Works staff loading it into a bin.

Crews repaired the pedestrian railing at Valley Blvd. and San Gabriel Blvd. which was hit by a tow truck.

Crews replaced 20’ of high voltage wire which shorted our street light circuit and caused a power pole fire on Kendall Dr. and Alhambra Rd.

SCE has reset the breaker.

City of San Gabriel is pleased to announce the selection of Edward Elizalde to serve as the city’s new Police Chief. With 28 years of law enforcement experience and a proven record of community engagement, personnel development and strategic budget management, Elizalde joins the San Gabriel Police Department as a seasoned professional. Chief, Elizalde will be responsible for overseeing the San Gabriel Police Department's operations, implementing innovative strategies to enhance public safety, and leading the department's efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment for all residents, businesses and visitors.

The aim of Coffee with a Cop is to dismantle the barriers separating police officers from the communities they serve. Meeting at neutral locations allows for genuine discussions about important matters. In a brief period, both the community and police officers become acquainted, uncovering shared objectives for the communities they reside in and serve.
