To our San Marcos Regional Airport Community:
It has been a constructive year for our Airport! We are experiencing growth in record numbers in and around the City of San Marcos. There are currently 1.9 million people living within a 25-mile radius of the Airport. Takeoffs and landings are at an all-time high and demand for hangars is stronger than ever.
As we prepare for what looks to be a very prosperous 2023, we will continue to focus relentlessly on safety and look for new opportunities to increase revenue for the city. Texas Aviation Partners started managing the Airport twelve years ago and in that time we’ve had the opportunity to get to know our city leaders and hear the needs of business owners, pilots, and Airport personnel. We value our relationships within the airport community and promise to always treat everyone with equal care and respect.
Here are a few of 2022’s most notable accomplishments:
- Aircraft operations (takeoffs & landings) increased to historic levels. Over 91,000 operations were recorded in 2022 with more than 10,000 movements in September alone!
- The Federal Aviation Administration awarded a $5.2 million dollar grant to the City of San Marcos for the reconstruction of Taxiway “Charlie”. This taxiway provides access from aircraft parking areas to 3 runways.
- The City Council approved approximately $191,000 for upgrades to city-owned T-hangars. Improvements include roof and structural repairs, and new exterior painting.
- Construction began on the final segment of FM 110. This $36.5 million dollar project will greatly reduce driving time from I-35 and increase development interests at the Airport and surrounding properties.
- In April, the Texas Department of Transportation selected San Marcos Regional Airport as the Reliever Airport of the Year. This award recognizes the importance of our Airport in the national airspace system and highlights our local airport businesses and their impact on the Texas economy.
- In September, the City's Fire Department broke ground on its first Training Academy located adjacent to our Airport Management office. The Academy will focus on public safety training for aspiring firefighters and will greatly benefit our community.
We at Texas Aviation Partners are grateful to the airport community for their business and trust, and to the City of San Marcos for their support and encouragement. There is a very exciting future ahead for the San Marcos Regional Airport.
Many thanks,
