TRAFFIC OPERATIONS
February and March (temporarily) broke our trend of increasing traffic operations thanks mainly to weather. Freezing temperatures and precipitation across central Texas prevented many of our normal operations. With the onset of spring weather, we expect to continue our upward trend of operations counts.

TAXIWAY DELTA TEMPORARY CLOSURE
The FAA has flagged Taxiway Delta as a "hot spot" due to its location (adjacent to two intersecting runways) and the fact that it does not conform to the current FAA airfield design standards. With the increase in traffic over the past 12 months, we've received several reports of concerns from local pilots.
To get an idea of how the closing of Taxiway Delta would impact operations, it will be temporarily taken out of service.
The temporary closure will begin on Friday, April 13 and the taxiway will reopen on Monday, May 14.
Please refer to NOTAMS and be sure to communicate with the tower during this time. If you have any questions, please call the airport management office at (512) 216-6042.

UPCOMING PROJECTS
As we dive into the last six months of the fiscal year, there are several exciting projects underway.
- Airfield Striping and Signage: This project was approved in the City's FY 2018 budget. It will include new illuminated sign panels for most runways/taxiways and striping lead-in lies onto Runway 13/31 and other movement areas around the airport. Airport Management is working with the City's purchasing department to scope the project and anticipates it will go out for bids in mid-April.
- Master Plan: The airport's Master Plan was last updated in 2001 and is being updated to account for changing demand. The Master Plan looks at long-term airport use, anticipated projects, and funding needs over the next 10 years. A Request for Proposals will go out through the City's procurement process by the end of the month. The entire project takes up to two years to complete.
- TxDOT Hangar: Design for an FAA/TxDOT-funded hangar should be complete by the beginning of May and is estimated to go out for bid in early June. Construction, which will occur near the airport entrance adjacent to Taxiway Kilo, is anticipated to begin in August.
Once exact dates for the projects have been determined, we will send out special notices to inform tenants and users of ongoing construction schedules and any associated closures.
