NOVEMBER AIR TRAFFIC OPERATIONS

November saw an 81% increase in traffic counts from November 2016! Keep in mind these numbers do not include flights that occur outside of the tower's operational hours. Overall, the numbers for the 2017 fiscal year are up approximately 51.1%!

The increased activity reflected in these traffic counts helps us secure funding for future airport projects and improvements.
RESERVED TIE-DOWNS

On December 6, 2016, Council established rates for reserved tie-downs on the ramp. These rates only apply to users and tenants who wish to establish and mark a specific location on the ramp for their aircraft. However, general parking will still be available and permitted at no cost.

We're in the process of marking and numbering 60 tie-downs on the ramp. Of those, 35 are currently reserved. Please take care to avoid parking in marked spaces.

If you're interested in reserving a tie-down for your aircraft or for you transient customers, please give us a call at (512) 216-6039.
AIRPORT MAINTENANCE

Taxiway Repairs: We are happy to announce that the recent significant repairs to taxiway Alpha & Charlie are complete. You will notice less debris and rocks as we have increased our sweeping to twice a week.  Safety is our number one priority and we are constantly monitoring the area for wear and tear.  Please call (512) 216-6042 and let us know if you see anything that needs to be addressed.

Weather StationAs of first of December we have an FAA approved backup weather system.  The purpose of this system is to help provide live weather to the flying community when the FAA AWOS is out of service.

ACCESS GATES ARE ACTIVE

On Monday, September 4, 2017, the airport gates were activated.

Visitors or those making deliveries can access the ramp by using one of three (3) gates controlled by Berry Aviation and Redbird Skyport (Gates 1, 2, and 4).

The main objective for the fence and gate system is to limit unauthorized vehicles on the ramp and around taxiing aircraft. The maps above show the gate locations and public parking areas (shown in green) to be utilized by guests and visitors.

If you need access to the ramp, please call the office at (512) 216-6039.

NEW WEBSITE TO BE LAUNCHED

As the first phase of our airport marketing and branding effort for 2018, we're putting the final touches on a new, standalone airport website. Those who attended our December Airport Advisory Board meeting were able to get a sneak peek of the design!

We anticipate the website will go live sometime in January and we look forward to hearing your feedback. Our goal is to provide a user-friendly site that will, in addition to our monthly newsletters, keep our tenants and users up-to-date on current events. Additionally, information regarding development and leasing will be readily available to prospective clients interested in the greater San Marcos regi
