In 2014, San Marcos Regional was awarded a $5.7M FAA grant for the reconstruction of Runway 13/31. The project will kickoff next Monday, February 16 with the widening of the airport entrance.

Construction on Runway 13/31 will not begin until Monday, April 6.

The entrance will be widened from 22' to 45' and will include two turn lanes out of the airport onto Highway 21. Normal ingress and egress is expected during construction. The final entrance is scheduled to be complete mid-April.

Additionally, TAP is working with TxDOT Highways to have a turn lane from Highway 21 installed.

We'll keep you updated on timelines as the project progresses!
If you've visited the Commemorative Air Force hangar recently, chances are you've noticed some improvements.

The CAF recently secured $95,000 in grants for the refurbishment of the original WWII hangar. The Ed Rachel Foundation contributed $55,000, while the LCRA gave $25,000, and the City of San Marcos contributed the final $15,000.

In November of 2014, the CAF began replacing wooden panels along the upper interior of the hangar. Members are still hard at work painting the stairs and remaining interior walls.

Metal siding on the exterior will be replaced beginning next week with the largest project - replacing the hangar doors on the front side of the hangar - scheduled to begin this summer.
