Airport Facilities Repairs and Maintenance
As all native Texans know, with warmer temps comes severe weather. A few weeks ago, we experienced a storm that caused damage to several hangars and aircraft on the field. We worked with City staff and tenants to assist in making repairs, which included reviewing leases and filing claims.
This event served as an important reminder.
First of all, if your lease states that you're responsible for property insurance (as is required by all ground leases and several facility leases), double check that the policy is current. The City should be listed as an additional insured so that we automatically receive a copy. However, things get lost in the mail, so we try to make frequent calls reminding folks to send in proof of insurance. This is for your protection!
If there is ever damage caused to your hangar, please let us know immediately. We can help make emergency repairs until a claim can be filed.
Secondly, if you need to make any repairs because of damage, or if you just want to make improvements to your hangar, keep us in the loop. Not only does your lease require prior approval, but we can help you determine if a permit is necessary and if so, we can guide you through the process. Any improvements need to comply with the City's ordinances and building codes and contractors must be approved to work within city limits.
We want to be a help, not a hindrance, in any work performed on facilities and we want to make sure nothing causes issues with potential future insurance claims or move-out inspections.
Feel free to contact the office at any time.
