13/31 FRICTION TESTING

Upon the completion of Runway 13/31, we received two pilot reports regarding possible diminished breaking action at landing when the surface is wet.

Airport Management contacted TxDOT Aviation and the engineering firm requesting an analysis. On November 17, a friction test was performed (pictured above).

While we're awaiting the full results of the test, Runway 13/31 will be closed via NOTAM when wet. We understand this is an inconvenience but safety is the highest priority.

We're working diligently to expedite a solution.

HIGHWAY 21 FENCE LINE CLEARING

Fence line clearing along Highway 21 between the airport management offices and the entrance of Gary Job Corp will begin next week and will take approximately a week. The goal is to decrease the wear and tear on the fence while improving the look of the airport.
CITY WATERLINE INSTALLATION & SECURITY GATES

The installation of the 12" waterline along Airport Drive is scheduled for completion before Christmas. Right now crews are focusing on connecting the new line to the individual hangars previously serviced by the smaller waterline.

Please note the water to the airport will be shut off tonight at 10:00PM for 2-3 hours.

The gate installation is finished but they will not be utilized until the waterline project is complete. Additional information regarding gate codes and procedures will be provided in short order.

THAT'S ALL BROTHER!

Our very own Commemorative Air Force wing received the official news on October 28 that the historic plane "That's All Brother" will be based at San Marcos Regional. This is a huge honor for the Central Texas Wing and the San Marcos community.

"That's All Brother" lead over 840 aircraft that dropped parachutists on D-Day during World War II.

Congratulations to the Commemorative Air Force Central Texas Wing for this exciting announcement. We can't wait to have this incredibly historic plane on San Marcos soil.
