Dear San Marino Families,
I am writing to update you on the condition of our schools this morning. Aside from a few anticipated leaks and scattered fallen branches, our schools are in great shape and we look forward to receiving your children this morning. Iād like to take this opportunity to express my sincerest gratitude to our San Marino Police and Fire Chiefs who provided me with important updates over the last 24 hours, Right At School for their willingness to provide emergency childcare services to our faculty and staff, and our dedicated Board President, Mrs. Shelley Ryan for taking my calls and helping me plan for contingencies.
Additionally, I owe a debt of gratitude to our Director of Maintenance and Operations, Mr. Gil Cardenas, who prepared for the storm in advance last Friday by having his maintenance crew strategically place sandbags and clear drains at all four schools and personally walking campuses last night and again this morning beginning at 4:30 a.m.
Lastly, thanks to all members of my executive team and our principals for remaining on high alert last night, Dr. Richter for walking campuses yesterday evening, Dr. Choi for sending my communications out, and everyone including principals for being here bright and early this morning to assist with whatever needs to be done. Also, I sincerely appreciate Dr. Lin for his preparedness and Dr. Rose for working with his team to secure substitutes for those whose absence is unavoidable today. I am truly blessed to be surrounded by such incredibly hard-working and dedicated professionals who are passionate about serving and supporting our amazing San Marino students and families.
Please drive carefully this morning and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Linda de la Torre, Ed.D.
Superintendent
