San Marino Unified School District Celebrates Success in 2023-24 CAASPP Results

San Marino, CA — The State of California has released the 2023-24 California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) summary reports, showcasing student achievement across public school districts. These assessments measure proficiency in English language arts (ELA), mathematics, and science, providing valuable insights into student learning and district performance.

San Marino Unified School District (SMUSD) is thrilled to announce that out of over 1,000 public school districts in California, SMUSD has emerged as the top-performing unified school district in the state based on CAASPP scores. This remarkable achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our students, educators, and the entire SMUSD community.

In the 2023-24 assessments, SMUSD students excelled with 88.89% meeting or exceeding standards in ELA and 87.43% doing the same in mathematics—well ahead of neighboring districts. San Marino High School was a standout, achieving an impressive 94.48% proficiency in ELA and 87.11% in mathematics, marking significant gains from the previous year with increases of 6.56% and 3.24%, respectively.

These outstanding results highlight the District’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence. Our administrators, teachers, specialists, and staff have worked tirelessly to create supportive learning environments where every student can thrive. This success would not be possible without the strong partnerships we have with parents and the invaluable support from the Board of Education. Together, we are shaping bright futures for our students, and these results affirm the strength of our approach.

In the coming weeks, the assistant superintendent of educational services will provide a detailed presentation of the 2023-24 CAASPP results at an upcoming public Board meeting, further highlighting the achievements of our students and schools.

We extend our deepest congratulations to the entire SMUSD community. Our students’ success is a reflection of the collective teamwork, dedication, and shared commitment to excellence that defines San Marino Unified. We remain steadfast in our mission to equip every student with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to reach their fullest potential.
