New Date & Time

"Sanctuary in Time" Shabbat Service and Hike

*New Date Saturday, February 10th*

Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel famously taught that "the Sabbaths are our great Cathedrals…Judaism may be characterized in the architecture of time." In other words, Shabbat is like a sanctuary built not in physical space but in lived moments. Let's celebrate Shabbat in the presence of our beautiful Arizona landscape on Saturday, February 10th at Brown's Ranch Trailhead. We hope to see you there!

What?

We will begin with a short 30-minute participatory and musical service in the outdoor Gateway Amphitheater with Rabbi Mason-Barkin and Cantor Ettinger, and then those who wish can join for a moderately easy 2.1-mile hike around the Brown's Ranch Short Loop. Let's celebrate the grandeur of creation in an incredible natural setting that we are lucky to have right in our own backyard! Great for all ages, though the hike is not wheelchair or stroller accessible. Hiking Backpack recommended for children under 3 years old.
