HOUSTON – Council Member Fred Flickinger would like to make Kingwood area residents aware that Houston Public Works will begin drainage improvements in Sand Creek Village starting Monday, April 28, weather permitting. The scope of work includes the installation of new storm sewer lines, leads, manholes, and inlets within the City right-of-way and the restoration of driveways and pavement as needed within the project scope. The project cost is $1,610,000 and is funded through the dedicated drainage and street renewal capital fund. The streets included in the project limits are indicated on the map below and are as follows:
- Crystal Falls Dr.
- Woodland Ridge Dr.
- Eagle Creek Dr.
- Deer Hollow Dr. (from Highland Laurels Dr to the end of each cul-de-sac)
- Highland Laurels Dr. (from Crystal Falls Dr to Forest Garden Dr)
- Highland Fern Ct.
- Aspen Mountain Trl. (from the end of the cul-de-sac to Highland Fern Ct)
Crews will be mobilized on-site beginning Monday, April 28, and the project is anticipated to be completed by Saturday, October 25, 2025, weather permitting. Construction activities are expected to take place Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. All construction activities near Dearwood Elementary School have been requested to take place during the summer months to minimize disruption. There are no planned impacts to the sanitary sewer system. During the course of the work, some minor water line adjustments will be necessary. Citizens will be notified 72 hours in advance of any water outages.
As a result of the construction activities, please be aware of flagmen and orange traffic cones that will be in place on-site to help with traffic flow through the construction zone, as the project will require one lane closure at times. As part of the project scope, some driveways will be replaced, which may require residents to make alternative parking arrangements such as street parking for approximately 2 to 3 days. A 72-hour advance notice will be provided before any driveway is removed. Please also be aware that increased noise levels may occur during this time due to the presence of construction equipment and vehicles in the area.
