In celebration of their 40th Anniversary, Cox Communications is having a Photo Scavenger Hunt for non-profit organizations with a prize of $10,000. That $10,000 could translate into 1000 more students attending a life-changing, trajectory-shifting cultural arts experience at the Sandler Center—IF the Sandler Center Foundation WINS! That’s where we need YOUR help!!

STEP 3: Check the Sandler Scavengers Group page early every week day between October 1 and 12 for a clue to a specific Hampton Roads location and elements needed in the day's scavenger photo entry.
STEP 4: If you are able to locate the clue's location and act quickly, please take the shot, with its prescribed elements, and upload the photo to the Sandler Scavengers Group’s Facebook page. We will handle tagging and posting the entry to Twitter as required.
We will receive a score on our entry based on how quickly we get the photo tagged and posted and how many prescribed elements we were able to capture in the photo—SO WE NEED TO WORK FAST!

Sandler Center Foundation Underwrites Performance with Renée Fleming, Soprano
Partnering with the Virginia Arts Festival , the Sandler Center Foundation is bringing world-renowned soprano Renée Fleming to perform at the Sandler Center on Saturday, February 23rd. The Los Angeles Times calls Fleming, “ One of the truly magnificent voices of our time… ” Sandler Center Foundation members and donors were given a pre-sale opportunity to purchase tickets prior to their being made available to the public—one of the many benefits of giving to the Sandler Center Foundation. Bringing world-class performers to Hampton Roads is part of the Sandler Center Foundation’s mission to educate, inspire and enrich our community.  Tickets go on sale to the general public September 28th.

Sandler Center Foundation Guests Enjoy
VIP Oceana Air Show Experience
On Friday, September 21 st , Sandler Center Foundation’s guests enjoyed a VIP Oceana Air Show experience, generously hosted by John Owens in Prevailance, Inc ’s show-side chalet and supported by a donation from Bank of America . It was a sunny, beautiful afternoon as guests enjoyed aviation displays and performances by the Canadian Snowbirds, the Blue Angels and others. They also were able to tour the S.T.E.M. Laboratory along with 5500 Virginia Beach City Public Schools 5th graders and 800 Chesapeake Public Schools 5 th Graders. Within the S.T.E.M. Laboratory , the Sandler Center Foundation created a S.T.E.A.M. exhibit (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts & Math) demonstrating the science behind theater lights.

Guests also learned about the impact the Sandler Center Foundation makes in its mission to educate, inspire and enrich our community.

2018/19 Education Program Season Kicks Off With 6000 Reservations Within 24 Hours !
This year’s Education Program is on a trajectory to touch more lives than ever. With a whopping 6000 reservations received within 24 hours of opening, this season is expected to be the most expansive yet. 

Serving students in grades Pre-K thru 8, the Sandler Center Foundation’s Education Program serves to educate, inspire and enrich tomorrow’s generations.
The educational matinees are accompanied by downloadable study guides and a curriculum which aligns with the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs). 

The Sandler Center Foundation also provides funding for students from Title I schools or other schools and programs in need to attend a matinee. It is the Foundation’s goal to make this experience accessible for all students in our area. The program has grown exponentially in recent years! Over 13,000 students received funding in the 2017/18 school year).

OUR MISSION: Founded in 2005, the Sandler Center Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization with a mission to educate, inspire, enrich and build our community, strengthen local arts organizations, and instill an appreciation of the arts in future generations through the underwriting of world-class performances at the Sandler Center. Among its initiatives is its Education Program , which serves 16,000+ students annually. The Foundation provides attendance funding for 80% of these students. The Sandler Center Foundation also hosts the local military, educators, first responders and their families to a free Sandler Center resident company performance through its Local Heroes program. Through performance underwriting, the Sandler Center Foundation hosts world-class performers on the Sandler Center stage, like Renee Fleming in February 2019.

To support the mission of the Sandler Center Foundation,
