New Normal
It looks like we are readjusting to a new normal. The spike in the Covid-19 virus is requiring us to be more mindful and aware of how our actions affect others. Of course, this is none other than bodhicitta, and Buddha taught us to maintain awareness of compassion for all beings in everything we do. But people are attached to the ‘old normal’ and we see a lot of behavior that does not indicate awareness beyond self-absorbed activity.
We have been taking a ‘wait and see’ approach to re-opening the Dharma Center because we want everyone to be safe. Many churches are doing the same because it looks like it may be awhile before pandemic numbers stabilize. We are lucky to live in an area that provides great outside activities that allow for safe distancing.

We have received suggestions to host outside opportunities for group Dharma practice, but that has some logistical and administrative challenges. As an organization, we are responsible for monitoring safety and this requires us to respect state regulations along with recommendations from our insurance carrier. Suffice it to say, it is not so easy.

So, may we ZOOM to a new normal for the time being and wear masks in public. May all beings discover a way to find balance and joy while being mindful of others. May all beings be happy and free from suffering.

Much love,
🙏🏼Michael

I am hiking in the Badlands Wilderness east of Bend and witness a super bloom of Oregon Sunshine (Eriophyllum lanatum). This aster family daisy is widely distributed throughout the Pacific Northwest, so it is anything but rare. It is not unusual to observe…

Green Tara Mantra
With great compassion and to relieve suffering and fear, we are chanting and accumulating the Green Tara Mantra:

OM TARE TUTARE TURE SOHA

We will chant this mantra during 2020 with the goal of accumulating 1,000,000 or more!

We have accumulated 786,317 mantras to date.
