Equanimity

I write this at the dawn of seasonal change. The autumnal equinox is upon us, and, as if on cue, the colors are beginning to dazzle the eyes with vibrant colors. Our neighborhood is lined by maple trees with their gold and red leaves framing the scene. Tarn is excited to start the annual leaf raking ritual. Other signs of fall are revealed in the steeper sun angles that enhance the red-rust colors of Ponderosa pine bark, and we are embraced by the cool, crisp air refreshing the skin, especially in the morning hours.

Time also shifts with the season. As day and night hours become nearly equal, I think about Buddha’s teaching concerning equanimity mind; the natural, restful awareness free from extremes of thinking. It is nice to be reminded of this at least twice a year. Of course, the reminder is also built into the breath and every beat of the heart. A La La!

Much Love,

🙏🏼🌎❤️Michael

We experience joy in forming the intention to be generous.

We experience joy in the actual act of giving something.

And we experience joy in remembering the fact that we have given."
