WEEKLY UPDATE FROM SUPERINTENDENT JERRY ALMENDAREZ: JAN. 19, 2021
Superintendent Jerry Almendarez this week issued a new update for the Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) community, covering the latest updates on the reopening of Learning Labs, vaccinations for education workers, and local COVID-19 rates. SAUSD COMMUNITY INVITED TO GIVE INPUT ON LOCAL CONTROL AND ACCOUNTABILITY PLAN (LCAP) FOR 2020-2021
SAUSD's Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) addresses the district’s vision for student learning, outlines actions and annual goals, and demonstrates how the District’s budget supports those goals. The community is invited to share input and suggestions to help the District evaluate its offerings and inform decision making for the LCAP for the 2020-2021 year. NATIONAL SCHOOL BOARD RECOGNITION MONTH
January is National School Board Recognition Month. SAUSD salutes the work our Board of Education does to support students, staff and community.
SAUSD OFFERING FREE MEALS FOR CHILDREN AGES 1-18
The District’s free meal service continues to provide nutritious meals for children ages 1-18 through June 3, 2021. In addition, the District has also expanded service times so that meals may now be picked up in the morning, afternoon and evening. Click here to view the schedule.
FACE COMMUNITY RESOURCES NEWSLETTER FOR JAN. 22
The SAUSD Family and Community Engagement (FACE) team has released a new edition of its weekly Community Resources Newsletter. In it, you'll find information about SAUSD helplines, food resources, mental health resources, upcoming events, distance learning tips, and more. HOW TO SUBMIT A STUDENT RECORDS REQUEST FOR DACA
Support Services has added information to its website for those interested in submitting a student records request for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) to SAUSD. Click here for directions. 
ENROLL NOW IN SAUSD SCHOOLS
Looking to enroll in SAUSD schools for the 2020-21 or 2021-22 school years? Click here to access important questionnaires, enrollment timelines, lottery guidelines and more. The 2021-22 enrollment window is open through Feb. 26, 2021.

APPLICATION PERIOD FOR ENROLLMENT LOTTERY OPEN THROUGH JAN. 25
SAUSD is accepting lottery applications for the 2021-2022 school year through 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25 via a Google form. To apply for the lottery, please go to the respective school website and click on the link to complete the Lottery Request Form. CHECK SAUSD WEBSITE FOR FREE COVID-19 TESTING RESOURCES
As a service to the community, the District has posted information about free COVID-19 testing opportunities to the COVID-19 resource webpage. Click here to view them.

Meet Kelley Katz, a proud SAUSD employee!

Katz is an assistant principal at Lorin Griset Academy.  

One of her favorite things about SAUSD are the people. “I love the people and their passion,” she said. “I am so grateful to be here. Being assistant principal at Lorin Griset Academy is truly my dream job. I am proud to be part of such a compassionate organization.”
