SUPERINTENDENT JERRY ALMENDAREZ OFFICIALLY JOINS SAUSD
|
SAUSD’s new superintendent, Jerry Almendarez, is officially on board. Mr. Almendarez began working for the Santa Ana Unified School District on Jan. 2, 2020, and kicked off his first full week with the District by meeting with staff and administrators, and SAEA and CSEA labor units, and visiting McFadden and MacArthur fundamental intermediate schools where he engaged with students and staff. In the coming weeks, he will continue to visit school sites and departments and will meet with District stakeholders to learn more about the District. VICTOR DE LOS SANTOS NAMED FINALIST FOR GRAMMY MUSIC EDUCATOR AWARD
|
Congratulations to Victor de los Santos, director of bands for Santa Ana High School, who has been named a finalist for the Grammy 2020 Music Educator Award for the third year in a row. The annual Music Educator Award recognizes teachers who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in schools. The annual Caring Educators Nourishing All (CENA) event, an SAUSD tradition for more than 25 years, took place recently at Santa Ana Valley High School. Each year at CENA, Santa Ana Unified employees, community partners, families, and friends come together to provide a warm meal, toys, and books to hundreds of our students and their families on Christmas Eve.
