Key News
- Congressional lawmakers to vote on last minute debt-ceiling deal today for a White House-backed deal to raise the U.S. borrowing limit and advert an unprecedented debt default. The plan is to cut at least $2.4 trillion over 10 years, form a powerful new congressional committee to recommend a deficit-reduction package by late November, and raise the U.S. borrowing limit through 2013. - According to a recent report from Moody's, the national commercial real estate sector continues to show improvement, leading to an optimistic forecast for the market, especially the multifamily sector. While the overall commercial sector received an average score of 67, the multifamily sector received an average score of 88. The Ventura County multifamily sector received a score of 94 out of 100. - Pacific Capital Bancorp, parent company of Santa Barbara Bank & Trust reports Second-Quarter net income of $21 million for the first 3 months ended June 30th, compared with $16.8 million during the First-Quarter. "Pacific Capital Bancorp has delivered its third consecutive quarter of strong performance since our successful recapitalization last August," CEO Carl Webb said. Complete Article.
- Chase Bank is set to open a new private wealth client office branch at 3307 State Street. It's the 5th in the Santa Barbara area and will provide 15 new jobs.
