Wow I am so excited to announce SBSMA just celebrated turning 7 years old this month! I feel so fortunate for all the students and teachers that come here to create and teach mosaic art!
Without all of you it would not be what it is and I am grateful....THANK YOU!
As for December, it has of course flown by as time seems to do these days and I have been busy with private sessions, commissions and getting ready for 2017.
I did a lot of traveling this year and I am excited to announce that I will have an article in the winter issue of Groutline, the online magazine from SAMA, about our travels to Cuba this past May. We visited a special mosaicked neighborhood called Fusterlandia and spent a great deal of time with Jose Fuster's son Alex and his best friend David. Jose Fuster is the artist behind Fusterlandia. If you become a member of SAMA (Society of American Mosaic Artists) you will receive Groutline quarterly. It is wonderful and chock full of information regarding many other mosaic artists, their travels, their stories of how they became mosaic artists and so much more. It is well worth it! With a SAMA membership you will receive Groutline as well as so many other great benefits. Click
here to check it all out including the annual conference, which will be in Detroit first week of May 2017!
As for back here in Santa Barbara more and more people are discovering what a wonderful place SB is to visit and take a workshop. I have decided to bring in more and more visiting artists, so each student can learn from a diverse and talented group.
There are some great artists on deck to come teach in 2017.
Click on their name to visit their websites to learn more about them and you can click
here to go to the SBSMA schedule page for details on their workshops.
If you are still looking for that last minute holiday gift, SBSMA and Mosaic Arts Online have wonderful gift certificates in any amount and available for email printing or physical mail! Credit cards accepted!

FUN STUFF HAPPENING IN THE STUDIO
Here are a few pics of the latest creation of one of SBSMA's regular students. She commissioned the boulder from me with this student's intention of creating an illusion of a mosaicked dress laying on the boulder. Stay tuned for more of this process.
