Santa Clara City has been recognized with Esri’s Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award for the innovative use of GIS technology to improve public safety coordination and situational awareness during the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship PGA Tour event at Black Desert Resort.

Esri’s SAG Awards recognize organizations around the world that demonstrate outstanding achievement and innovation through the use of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. With more than 700,000 Esri customers worldwide, this recognition reflects the dedication, collaboration, and innovation of the teams who developed this solution.

Santa Clara City is proud to be recognized for using innovative technology to improve public safety and better serve residents and visitors. The GIS solutions developed for the Black Desert PGA event provide a repeatable framework for supporting future large scale events and complex emergency response operations.

The Santa Clara City Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing at 5:30 PM on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in the City Council Chambers, 2603 Santa Clara Drive, Santa Clara, Utah 84765.

The purpose of the Public Hearing is to receive public input on the following items:

1. Public hearing, consideration and possible action on a proposed Rezoning and Project Plan for property located at 4405 W. 1700 N. (Big Rocks Subdivision, Lots 1, 2, and 3). The subject properties are approximately 12.99 acres in size. The applicants, Randy & Sue Yocum, propose to Rezone the property from the Open Space OS Zone to the Planned Development Commercial, PDC Zone to allow for a wedding and event center on the property. 

Citizens of Santa Clara are encouraged to attend the meeting where they will be given the opportunity to express any concerns they may have with the proposed action. In compliance with the American with Disabilities Act, individuals needing special accommodations (including auxiliary Communicative aids and services) during this hearing should notify the City Recorder, Selena Nez at 673-6712, ext. 203 at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.

Santa Clara’s Annual Swiss Days Celebration returns September 24–26, 2026! This beloved hometown festival honors our Swiss pioneer heritage with three days of community fun, including the community dinner, 5K, parade, live entertainment, and local vendor booths. The complete schedule of events will be available soon. Vendor applications are now closed, and we thank all participating vendors for being part of this year’s celebration. Sponsor applications remain open, and parade applications are still being accepted for this year’s parade theme, “Where Freedom Rings.” The Cow Order Form is also open, giving families and businesses an opportunity to be part of this cherished Swiss Days tradition. The Aedes aegypti, an urban dwelling container mosquito, loves to hang out in yards and neighborhoods — places close to people. Its eggs can survive the mild winters to hatch at the first sign of water and warm weather. Be proactive to prevent this mosquito in your Spring cleaning. On July 4, 2026, Santa Clara will join the rest of the nation to commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Throughout 2026, Santa Clara will host monthly lectures and activities to celebrate this historic event. These events are planned to help Educate, Engage and Unite our community, state and nation. Due to a speaker emergency, Santa Clara’s America250 August Lecture has been cancelled. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to resuming the lecture series next month. Keeping Our Children Safe in School Crosswalks

As a new school year begins, the Santa Clara–Ivins Police Department reminds everyone that keeping our children safe is a shared responsibility. Every school day, students walk, bike, and scooter to and from school, relying on drivers, parents, crossing guards, school staff, and School Resource Officers to help them arrive safely.

Our dedicated crossing guards work every school day at 10 school crosswalks throughout Santa Clara and Ivins. They do much more than hold a stop sign; they monitor traffic, safely guide children across busy streets, and help create a safe environment during the busiest times of the day.

Children can be unpredictable. They may become distracted by friends, phones, bikes, or scooters, or unexpectedly enter the roadway. That's why drivers must remain especially alert in and around school zones.

Help Protect Our Students:

• Slow down and obey school zone speed limits.
• Put phones and other distractions away.
• Watch carefully for children walking, biking, or riding scooters.
• Always stop for crossing guards and pedestrians in crosswalks.
• Never block a crosswalk, make illegal U-turns, or pass a vehicle stopped for pedestrians.
• Use designated student drop-off and pick-up areas whenever possible.

A few extra seconds of patience can prevent a tragedy. By slowing down, staying alert, and following the directions of crossing guards, we can all help ensure every child gets to and from school safely.
