January 2016

Santa Fe TTN is organized and led entirely by volunteers.

Co-C oordinators' Corner

As we
Rachel Greenstein & Sue Burgess
approach the beginning of 2016, do you find yourself wondering what on earth happened to 2015?!  It seems like the latest Pasatiempo is on your doorstep almost before you've finished the last one. Time in Santa Fe seems to fly much more quickly than it does in other places. Maybe it's because we have so much to do here, from our broad array of museums, lectures and volunteer opportunities, to the variety of groups you find on Meet-Up - where TTN now has a larger presence.

We begin a new year of programming and social activities with new leadership and new energy.  We look forward to hearing what's important to you as we continue to grow the chapter.

Our first program will feature award-winning local author, Pat Shapiro. She will talk with us about some of the women featured in her latest book, The Privilege of Aging. The 12 women whose interviews appear in her book are between the ages of 76 and 102. They may just have some useful tips about longevity and appreciating our longer lives. We hope to see you there on Monday, January 25th .

Pat Shapiro with her newest book
What are the keys to successful aging?
In this stimulating talk, local author Pat Shapiro will draw on the lives of the twelve women from the ages of 76 to 102 featured in her latest book The Privilege of Aging and share what she learned from interviewing them. Her talk will cover the secrets to the women's longevity and their vitality as well as a new vision of aging that can change how we all view the years ahead.

Pat Shapiro is an award-winning au thor who has writt en or co-authored nine nonfiction books. She specializes in writing and speaking on the issues of women at mid-life and older. She has a master's in social work and draws on that training to understand the human condition, particularly women's development. Pat is also a writing coach and yoga instructor.

Nearly 30 TTN Santa Fe Chapter members and guests attended our festive holiday gathering last month at the Montezuma Lodge! Everyone enjoyed the sumptuous potluck spread as well as the colorful seasonal decorations! Two gift baskets - plus Georgia O'Keeffe prints - went to the winners of our traditional raffle.

The annual holiday party is always an opportunity for TTN members to enjoy each other's company; additionally, this year's festivities also introduced our guests - and potential new members - to the camaraderie that TTN provides!
Host Your Own TTN Events!
For three years, the Social Committee has arranged many events, including coffees, happy hours, and special trips to connect our members beyond the monthly meetings.

Something you would like to host? Hiking, art, theater? It's easy with MeetUp as a communications tool. Contact Linda McEnroe - singinglinda(at)gmail.com to get started.
