Santa Fe TTN is organized and led entirely by volunteers.
This month we acknowledge the dedicated service of two of our beloved Steering Committee Members and send them off with great blessings and best wishes for many grand adventures ahead.
Thank you, Sue Burgess, for your tireless commitment to TTN, your organization, your willingness to take on multiple roles, and all the brightness you have brought our way these many years! We appreciate all that you have done for us!
And thank you Kay Henrikson for being our loyal and efficient treasurer! Your role in our community has been vital, your records have been impeccable, and we are so grateful for YOU!!
We will be challenged to replace these two wonderful women, sincerely hope they will continue to participate in our programs, and wish them nothing but the best as they move on!
Which brings us to 2018! We have all kinds of wonderful events planned for our collective benefit, starting with Rhoda's program on January 22nd, so stay close, stay tuned, and let's continue to connect, discover, and enjoy each other!
RECOGNIZING JEAN PALMER FOR HER SERVICE ON THE NATIONAL BOARD.
Jean was selected to be on the
National TTN Board in 2014 and has served for four years. During her time on the Board, she made many contributions. One of the highlights was having the
Leadership Retreat in Santa Fe in 2015 for the leaders from all the chapters and served as program co-chair for that event. She
helped write the ABC's of Starting a Chapter and co-chaired the Leadership Development Committee. She was
instrumental in helping design the Transition Peer Group Manual and the
Women in Transition Workshop which are being used across the country.
The founder of our TTN Santa Fe Chapter, Jean will be leaving her post as Liason to National but will continue to be active on the Santa Fe Steering Committee as the Transition Peer Group Coordinator.
TTN's Santa Fe Chapter is grateful for the benefit of Jean's leadership!
JANUARY MONTHLY MEETING

PLANNING FOR A STELLAR 2018
Mary Poppins, in the movie of that name, talks about "pie crust promises - easily made and easily broken." For most people, that is what New Year's resolutions are. They are not made from a place of deep understanding of ourselves or aligned with our core values, so of course we break them. This year, embrace a process of
looking at your deepest values and intentions. See what really fits you and set up guidelines for 2018 that will enable you to lead a truly satisfying life. It can be done more easily than you think. Rhoda Mitchell, TTN member and popular Life Coach with over 35 years of experience, will lead us in developing our unique, personal guidelines for 2018.
Rhoda Mitchell is a popular coach and master teacher who has over 30 years experience helping individuals make the right career and life decisions. She excels at helping people get from wherever they are to where they want to be. You will enjoy the interaction with her as you clarify where you're headed in 2018.
$5 donation at the door.
Bring a guest!
Montezuma Lodge 431 Paseo de Peralta located just to the left and behind the Scottish Rite Temple with plenty of parking.
WANT TO FEEL MORE CONNECTED? CONSIDER JOINING A TTN TRANSITION PEER GROUP!
WE ARE EAGER TO START NEW PEER GROUPS IN EARLY 2018!
A Transition Peer Group consists of a small group of women (usually 8-10) who join together in each other's homes (usually once or twice a month) to discuss topics of mutual interest and relevance to their current lives. Transition Peer groups provide opportunities for connection, new friendships and mutual support in a safe, respectful environment as women navigate their individual life transitions.
Here's what one Peer Group participant said: "I have found participating in our Transition Peer Groups one of the special opportunities offered by our TTN Chapter. We share our individual experiences of chosen topics such as aging, friendships, isolation, or passion in a confidential environment. The unique format encourages developing the art of listening, the art of shared facilitating and providing the kind of support which enables each member to find their own unique solutions."
Participation in a Transition Peer Group is a TTN member benefit.
Shopping at Taos - and a Holiday Concert at the Lensic!
TTN members began the holiday season on December 8th by driving to meet TTN member and Taos resident artist Karen Lievense for shopping at the
Taos Pop-Up Art Show followed by lobster bisque at Martrys Restaurant and more shopping and sampling elixirs at the Chokola on the Taos Plaza. The group loved the Taos ambiance and resolved to return to visit the Millicent Rogers Museum.
More TTN members joined the audience on December 11th for the
Santa Fe Concert Band's performance of seasonal music including all-time favorites by Leroy Anderson and Irving Berlin, a variety of Spanish carols, an arrangement of dances from Tschaikowsky's Nutcracker Suite and the Russian Sailors Dance. The evening concluded with the audience joining the band for a holiday sing-along!
TTN member Virginia Asman played in the flute section of the band whose tradition of presenting free concerts dates back to 1865.
Joyous Carol Singing at Our Holiday Party
Great food, conversation and a sing-along was enjoyed by 30 enthusiastic TTN members at our annual holiday party on December 18th. A very special shout out to Jean who worked so hard to get members there by making many phone calls and emails to people we haven't seen for a while and to newer members.
Socks and Beanie Drive
At our holiday party, TTN members contributed 87 pair of socks and 27 beanies, six of which were hand knitted! Cash donations totaling $27 were spent buying more items. Thank you to Lynne Frimond for originating the idea of doing something for the elderly and making sure we had enough to distribute that day - and a big thank you to our members for their generosity!
Bringing Holiday Spirit to the Residents of Casa Real!
On December 20th, we had the privilege and pleasure of joining the residents of Casa Real at their holiday party where
a group of us gathered to sing carols, distribute those fuzzy socks and beanies, and spread our love! What a lovely group of people! It was an uplifting and truly joyful experience!
JANUARY CALENDAR OF EVENTS

LUNCH GATHERING AT JAMBO CAFÉ
2010 Cerrillos Road @ St. Michael's Drive
Let's celebrate January in Santa Fe by going to the Caribbean for lunch!
Jambo Café serves African-Caribbean Fusion food in a tropical atmosphere with Reggae music playing in the background. Jambo Café has won "Best International Cuisine" in Santa Fe for 6 years running, and "Best Chef" since 2015.
The more who come, the merrier our gathering will be!
Come have some fun with an evening of music! Please bring your instruments and/or your voices, to listen or participate in music of any genre. There will be an opportunity for solos (2-3 per person/group) and a sing-along of familiar and well-loved tunes!
Light refreshments will be served and if you'd like to bring something, please do.
What better to do when it's cold outside than go to a movie with women friends and then have a bite to eat and discuss the movie when it's over? That's the plan for our January 18th event. Located in the Railyard District, the Violet Crown is an artsy, upscale theater with wide comfy seats, and a spacious, full menu restaurant for after.
The movie choice will be something interesting and off the beaten path, to be announced a few days before the event to all who have expressed interest.
