We don't take a break in the summer. We continue to have our monthly programs and other social activities and we look forward to seeing you. We want you to get in the habit of going to the website to get the latest news and updates and to learn more about the chapter. Go to www.TheTransitionNetwork.org, click chapters, Santa Fe, and then read all about us. You can check the events calendar, member directory and any other categories of interest to you. Members are also invited to join the Meet-up for Santa Fe Chapter The Transition Network. See information elsewhere in this newsletter about signing up.
Want to get more connected and involved in the chapter? Would you like to have a more active part in determining the direction of the chapter? Anyone in the chapter may express interest in serving on a committee or in a leadership role. It is a wonderful way to get to know others, to use your talent and skills and give back to TTN. We want new Co-Coordinators to begin attending Steering Committee meetings in July to become familiar with the duties. They will begin serving in January 2014 for a term of two years. To find out more or to express interest in the position, contact current Coordinator, Jean Palmer at Jean@JeanPalmer.com, or 505-954-1566.
Another new initiative we will be starting is the Caring Collaborative (CC). What is the Caring Collaborative? It's a new service for members where those in the CC both give and receive assistance, matching those needing care and information with those who are willing to help, i.e. a concerned person to pick you up after a medical procedure. We'll be working over the next several months to get it started and if you would like to be in on the initial planning, please contact Judy Donahue, jdonohue75007@yahoo.com.
Programs: The June program will be Transitioning Through Life with an Open Mind, Acceptance and Gratitude. To find out more, see below. The monthly programs are open to all and are fragrance free. We are meeting in public places and we must be respectful of their policies that only allow service dogs. As of May 1, this policy will be in effect at TTN meetings in public places and in homes as well.
Membership: We know some of your memberships have lapsed or are coming due. We want you to continue participating in our chapter. For those who are currently members, it's an easy process to renew: log in to www.thetransitionnetwork.org using your username and password. If your membership has already lapsed, you'll be automatically prompted to renew. If it has not, simply click "Go To Your Account" underneath your name in the log-in box, and then "Renew My Membership" on the left hand side of the page. You'll see the renewal options for your local chapter and will have the option to pay online by credit card, or by mailing a check. If you have any questions or need a reminder of your username or password, contact Sara Lyons at the National office at sara@thetransitionnetwork.org or 212-803-6120.
We have many exciting, new activities and opportunities for members. If you are not currently a member, go to www.thetransitionnetwork.org/join and follow the instructions for joining. Scholarship money is available for joining or renewal if you have a financial need. Participation in the scholarship program is confidential. For more information, contact TTN Executive Director, Betsy Werley at 212-803-6121 or betsy@thetransitionnetwork.org.
Peer Groups: There are many new, fun social activities planned that you will see spelled out elsewhere in this newsletter and are open to members. By being a part of the Santa Fe Chapter The Transition Network Meet-up, any member can put in an announcement on it to find others who might want to go to a movie or eat together or let people know about a workshop or event that might be of interest.
The Transition Peer Group, a unique benefit of TTN membership, consists of a small group of women (usually 8-12) who join together in each other's homes discussing topics of mutual interest and relevance to their current lives. We will be offering new TPGs in September commencing with a general orientation meeting for all those interested. Further details and dates will be made available through the monthly newsletter. Any questions, please contact Beth Johnson, TPG Coordinator at bethjohnson58@msn.com or by phone at 505-466-3679.
Gratitude: To all who have attended our monthly programs and other activities - the organization wouldn't exist without you! To members of the Steering Committee who will be rotating off in June 2013: Karen Hodges, Fundraising, who has stepped up to help with many other chapter activities including the zipbonding and most recently set up a TTN booth at the Railyard to let people know about us; Jeanne Roos, Logistics, who does a lot of behind the scenes work to arrange for and set up our monthly meetings, greets you at the sign-in table and arranges space and food for our other special events; Betty Bartos, Member at Large, who headed up our first fundraiser at Flying Star and has helped with other activities including the Chapter Launch. We are most grateful for your contributions, your time and your ideas and we want you to stay involved in whatever way works for you.
