The Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners approved Task Order #8 to Chavers Construction for the installation of approximately 1,730 linear feet of 5' wide sidewalk along the south side of Barbarosa Rd. from Tuscon Ct. to Woodlawn Beach Road and at the East Side of Elkhart Dr. from Federal St. to Kempton St. for an amount of $121,211.37.

Chumuckla Highway Widening

This project is currently in the Project Development and Environment (PD&E) phase. The PD&E is required to obtain any state or federal funding for this roadway improvement. The southern limit of the area begins at the intersection of County Road (CR) 197 with State Road (SR) 10 (US 90) and continues north of the intersection with Woodbine Road (Five Points Intersection). A feasibility study in March 2023 determined the feasibility of widening Chumuckla Highway (CR 197) from an undivided 2-lane rural typical section to a divided 4-lane urban typical section. This project has been funded with a Transportation Regional Improvement Program (TRIP) grant with a 50/50 match requirement. This project is an important step toward improving transportation in our area and ensuring safer, smoother travel for everyone.

Utility Easement for Landfill Maintenance Shop

Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners moved forward with granting a 10-foot-wide utility easement to Florida Power & Light at the Central Landfill. This easment will allow Emerald Coast Constructors (ECC), which is constructing the new heavy equipment maintenance facility at the Santa Rosa Central Landfill, to provide electrical service to the building.

Ashmore Drainage Improvements

This project is focused on addressing flooding issues in the Ashmore Subdivision and nearby areas by enhancing stormwater management. Key improvements include the construction of a new stormwater pond, installation of new collection systems, outfall structures, and utility adjustments, as well as reshaping an existing pond. To support these changes, a chain-link fence will be added around the stormwater facilities, following Santa Rosa County's standards. These upgrades will improve the storage and flow of stormwater, reducing the risk of flooding in the area.
