Santa Ski, December 16, 2023

Santa is Coming to Otway!!!

Saturday, December 16th- 3:30 to 6 pm

Bring your wish list and your Salvation Army donation!

It only happens once a year, the trails at Caledonia Nordic lead through a torchlit snowy forest to Santa's cabin! Santa and Mrs Claus, along with a few jolly elves will be skiing between Santa’s Cabin (if the weather is warmer than -20 degrees Celcuis) or will be inside the Rotary Lodge (if the temperature is colder than -20 degrees Celcius) and you are all invited!

Ski, snowshoe or walk along the lit trails to meet up with Santa and Mrs Claus and their elves from 4:00 to 6 pm on Sunday, December 16th. No earlybirds please, so Santa can get prepared without little eyes watching :) Bring your thermos of hot drinks and enjoy the fire in the gravel pit or out at Santa’s Cabin.

All trail users at Otway are required to show their day pass or season’s pass. If you do not have a season’s pass you may pick up your complimentary day pass for Santa Ski from our Rental Shop- when you drop off your donation for the Salvation Army upstairs under the Giving Tree in the Rotary Lodge between 3:30 pm and 5 pm on Saturday, December 16th.

THE GIVING TREE (Dec 16th, Upper Rotary Lodge)

The Giving Tree will be set up in the Rotary Lodge on December 16th. Please drop off any non-perishable food items, or unwrapped gifts for children under the GIVING Tree in the spirit of Christmas for Santa SKI!! Cash Donations for the Salvation Army Food Bank will also be welcomed during Santa Ski (3:30 to 5 pm) at the Rental Shop. All donations will be made to the Salvation Army Food Bank to support local families, in the week following Santa Ski on behalf of the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club and all Santa Ski volunteers and participants. Please give generously to help others in our community this Christmas.

We are still Seeking Coaches for our Bunny/Jack Rabbit Programs

We are always looking for new coaches. If you are interested in joining our amazing team, please feel free to reach out to our Program Coordinator, Sadie Bialuski.

Remember, as a coach, you bring the sport of xc skiing to our youth. You don't have to be the best skier, you just have to love the sport. And EVERYONE loves the sport. The club covers all costs and this looks fantastic on a resume for all those teens looking for something to do.

Coaching courses are covered and we will reach out with dates/times when snow conditions allow

We look forward to hearing from you!!

We are looking to update our

By laws and need your help!

Call for Bylaw Committee

The Club is inviting expressions of interest from members to be part of a committee with a mandate to revise the club bylaws. The committee will report to the board and is expected to have between three

and five members. The term for membership will be one year.

The present bylaws require updating as a result of multiple issues, including housekeeping to maintain compliance with the Societies Act.

Additional proposed changes include allowing electronic voting and hybrid or remote general meetings.

The process the committee will go through will be:

  • Review existing bylaws, Societies Act and other club bylaws.
  • Produce initial draft of recommended changes.
  • Submit draft bylaws to board for review and approval.
  • Draft bylaws will be presented to membership for comment.
  • The committee will review comments, make changes as appropriate, then resubmit to board as proposed new bylaws.
  • Proposed new bylaws will be presented to membership for approval at a General Meeting.
  • Approved new bylaws will be sent to the Registrar of Societies so they may come into effect.

Iterations will take place as necessary.

The committee will be headed by Tim Roots, Vice President and remaining bylaw committee members will be selected by the board with the intent to produce a committee with diverse perspective and suitable experience. Committee members should have a strong interest in the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club as well as an understanding or desire to understand how a Society is governed.

A response to this call is requested by December 5. Interested members should email:
