Helping Hands Food Drive
Now that we've spread some warmth, it's time to give again, La Vista!

We're kicking off a new effort that we're calling the Helping Hands Food Drive.

We've partnered with the Tri-City Food Pantry to collect boxes of Hamburger Helper, Chicken Helper and Tuna Helper.

We are collecting in November and December and donations can be dropped off at any City facility as well as some community partners as well.

Yard Waste Dumpster available through November 25
As you clean up your yard leaf pile by leaf pile this fall, you'll need somewhere for all of it go.

Until November 25, you can bring your yard waste to Public Works, 9900 Portal Rd., Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.

Santa's mailbox has arrived!
Santa's mailbox has arrived from the North Pole!

His elves have installed it near the top of the parking lot at Santa's Workshop, 8305 Park View Blvd., and it's ready to receive your letters!

If you mail a letter to Santa before December 15, you will receive a reply!

Santa's Sleigh Ride Nov. 29
Look who's coming to town...again?!!!

Santa was just here a few months ago, but now he's coming back for his traditional pre-Christmas visit!

Santa and his entourage will be here on Sunday, November 29, beginning at 3 p.m.

As you wait along the route for Santa, please stay with your household group, observe social distancing and wear a mask to protect yourself and others!

Because of COVID-19, we will not be handing out candy canes.

Santa will start on the west side of 84th Street from approximately 3-5 p.m. and then will be on the east side of 84th Street from approximately 5-7 p.m.

Letters to Santa!
It may only be mid-November, but it’s really never too early to start planning your letter to Santa! And, it’s 2020, so…

Beginning very soon, a special mailbox will be available on the east side of Santa’s Workshop where you can drive up and drop off your letters to Santa, AND you’ll get a reply!

The North Pole has assured us that any letter mailed by December 15 will receive a reply!

Thanksgiving Grab & Go Kits
What are you thankful for this year?

Mr. David has prepared some fun grab & go kits you can pick up at the Community Center with some fun activities for the coming Thanksgiving holiday!

The kits can be picked up Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.! Happy Thanksgiving!

Youth Basketball League!
We are excited to announce that La Vista's Recreation Department and the Sarpy Community YMCA have joined forces to combine our 2021 Youth Basketball League!

Season begins in January
Youth Basketball League
Early Bird Registration: Oct 13 - November 9
Final Registration: Nov 10 - December 1

*Practices will tentatively begin the week of January 4. Practices are held at coach’s discretion on Monday - Friday evenings with no practices on Wednesdays. *Games will begin January 23 and end March 6. Games may be played at the Sarpy YMCA and/or the La Vista Community Center on Saturdays and/or Sundays. *Start/End date is Subject to change.

Ages:  Boys and Girls, 3rd – 8th grade as of current school year
Fees:   Oct 13 - Nov 9: $55, non-residents $65
           Nov 10 – December 1: $65, non-residents $75
Programming, Safety Precautions at the La Vista Senior Center
Now that the La Vista Community Center is open again, there is a variety of activities available for seniors and staff is taking many precautions to keep our seniors safe.

Board of Health & City Council meetings
The Board of Health and City Council will hold special meetings on Tuesday, November 24, in the Harold "Andy" Anderson Council Chambers at City Hall.

The Board of Health meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the City Council meeting will occur at 6 p.m. or immediately following the Board of Health meeting, whichever comes first.

Both meetings will address the topic of enacting a mask mandate for the City of La Vista.

The City Council agenda will be available for viewing after 4 p.m. on Friday, November 20, at CityofLaVista.org/Agenda.
