Registration begins soon for the Wild Winter Read Off!
Dec. 20 - Feb. 26
It’s almost winter which makes it the perfect time to curl up with a good book or seven. While you’re reading anyway, why not earn some prizes? New this year, we’ve added a community reading challenge and giveaway.
Sign up for a three-day pass to the online edition – a library card is required for access. After the first three days, you can continue to log in for another three days at a time. Call Information Services at (920) 236-5205 if you’d like help setting up your account.
If your reading pile is shrinking, or you need book suggestions for the gift-giving season, our librarians can offer you personalized recommendations through the Book-A-Librarian service.
Call Information Services at (920) 236-5205 to reserve an appointment.
Make the season brighter for homeless veterans by giving to Operation Waverly – part of the White Christmas Exhibition at the Oshkosh Public Museum. The library is a drop-off site for hygiene items, clothing, backpacks, sleeping bags and more. When you’re out shopping, please consider picking up a few items to donate!
Happy holidays! Here are a few things the library has planned for this month.
Memory Café welcomes the Oshkosh West Madrigal Choir for a performance of holiday favorites. Adult DIY is making the cutest little sled ornaments. Special thanks to Library Assistant Chong who creates each month’s craft kits and YouTube videos.
Librarian Michael McArthur’s annual Great Reads program debuts on YouTube - this year’s episode features an outstanding ensemble cast!
Free Covid-19 Vaccine Clinics continue to be conducted at the library every Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. No appointment needed.
Visit the Children’s Department to see if you can spot our mischievous Elf on the Shelf. Get creative with the supplies included in our free D.I.Y. Ornaments and More Kits for Kids. Call (920) 236-5208 to reserve or stop by the Children’s Department Service Desk to pick up.
We hope to see you soon!
The library will be closed on the following dates:
Fri., Dec. 24
Sat., Dec. 25
Fri., Dec. 31
Sat., Jan. 1
Let’s fill the mitten tree
Dec. 1 - 15
Did you know The Mitten Tree is a children’s picture book about kindness? Keeping with the book’s message, the library is collecting donations of new or handmade children’s mittens, hats and scarves to help keep Oshkosh area kids warm this winter. Hang your item on the tree in the Children’s Department, and we’ll deliver your donations to the Oshkosh Salvation Army for distribution.
We’re decking the halls for Santa’s arrival on Sat., Dec. 11 from noon – 2 p.m. in the library’s First Floor Reading Room. Meet Santa, take a photo with him and receive a free goody bag while supplies last.
