Santa visits the hamlet tomorrow!
|
|
The Vision of Wallkill’s second annual Holidays in the Hamlet event will take place tomorrow from 3-7:30 p.m.
For those wanting to get into the festive spirit earlier in the day, Wallkill Reformed Church will be having a holiday fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Delicious baked goods, jewelry, collectibles, gifts, and Christmas bargains will be available. Wallkill Public Library’s Quilters’ Circle will be exhibiting a display of handmade quilts, as well! Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wallkill Reformed Church is located at 45 Bridge Street, Wallkill, NY 12589. For information or directions, call the church office at (845) 895-2181.
You’ll want to eat early or take your food to go, though, so you can make the 2 p.m. performance at the Town Hall community room, featuring illusionist Ryan Dutcher, who will be performing mind-bending magic tricks! Brought to you by the Wallkill Public Library and co-sponsored by VOW, registration is required and can be done via the library’s online calendar.
Finally, starting at 3 p.m., VOW will host a holiday celebration on the library lawn and at Town Hall, which will include music from school district choral groups and a curated Artisan Marketplace! Santa will make an appearance to help light the Christmas tree and say hi to his fans. In preparation for the Dec. 7 beginning of Hanukkah, the town will have a menorah on display, as well!
A celebratory fireworks display will end the event.
If you are interested in becoming a vendor or volunteer at the Holiday in the Hamlet event, contact Donna at 845-527-6230 or email visionofwallkill12589@yahoo.com.

RCLS Gateway app no longer downloadable
|
The app many users have downloaded as a means of managing their library accounts, placing holds, and searching the library catalog is no longer available on either Google Play or the App Store.
Users who already had the RCLS Gateway app on their mobile devices may have noticed recently that the app wasn’t functioning correctly. When RCLS – the library system to which Wallkill Public Library belongs – looked into the matter, they were told the app was unexpectedly (and permanently) disabled.
Though currently there is no other app available that can manage your account, RCLS is working on a solution and hopes to have another product available by the end of January. Until then, it’s always a good idea to have your library cards with you when visiting the library. This will avoid the mistakes that have resulted in the past when two different users have the same name.
We appreciate your help and apologize for the inconvenience!
