Old Salem Farm September Horse Shows

Hunters Take the Stage in June Road Ring

North Salem, NY – September 15, 2022 Sarah Segal of Flemington, NJ, stole the show in the Old Salem Farm International Arena for Thursday’s Open Jumper classes at the 2022 Old Salem Farm September Horse Shows. She piloted Horatio Street Ventures LLC’s O’Quality Z to the win in the morning’s 1.30m Open Jumper, then returned with the speedy 8-year-old Zangersheide mare to claim the top spot in the afternoon’s 1.40m Open Jumper as well.

The Old Salem Farm September Horse Shows host competitions for riders of all levels and ages, from young riders on ponies to Olympic veterans with their up-and-coming mounts. The September Horse Shows kick off with a USEF Premier-4 rating for hunters and jumpers September 13-18, followed by USEF Premier-2 September 20-24 and USEF National-2 September 28-October 2.


Performance and Green hunters also took the stage in the June Road Ring, with Laura Bowery of Bridgehampton, NY, and Brianne Goutal-Marteau of Annapolis, MD, each piloting their mounts to a 1-2 finish in the first over-fences classes of the Combined Performance Hunters. Bowery rode her own Prince of Thieves; Goutal-Marteau rode Aquitaine Equine’s Infinity G.

Segal and Goutal-Marteau are two of 28 riders entered in Friday’s $10,000 Old Salem Farm Welcome Stake, which will feature 47 horse-and-rider combinations vying for blue-ribbon honors. Other upcoming highlights include Friday’s Old Salem Farm 3’ Hunter Derby, Saturday’s Amateur Owner Hunter Classic and Pony Hunter Classic, and Sunday’s $3,000 Junior/Amateur Medium/High Jumper Classic presented by Eastern Hay. The first of the September Horse Shows’ three competition weeks culminates with Sunday’s $30,000 Old Salem Farm Grand Prix

 

Old Salem will also host the Hollow Brook Horsepower Car Show presented by Porsche Danbury on Saturday, September 17, showcasing horsepower both in and out of the arena with local car enthusiasts representing more than a century of motorized technology. This spectacular car show will feature a special gathering of Pre-war, Super Cars and American Classics. Those in attendance will be able to vote online for the People’s Choice Award winner, to be announced at the end of the day. Other activities taking place during the car show include Love Paints Face Painting from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and Wine Tasting by Robert Mondavi Winery from 12:00-2:00 p.m.
