Student Spotlight

Congrats on your graduation, Jose!

When Jose joined his classroom, he was hesitant to participate in daily activities at first. But with patience, encouragement, and the right support, he gradually came out of his shell. As staff got to know him better, they discovered his incredible independence and strong life skills. From doing laundry to vacuuming, sweeping, and washing windows, Jose mastered these essential tasks. With time and practice, he now completes them with minimal to no support, showing how capable and independent he has become.

One of Jose’s biggest accomplishments has been learning to do his own meal prep each week. With the guidance of staff, he planned meals, shopped for items while sticking to a budget, and prepared and cooked his food. After enjoying his meals, he took responsibility for cleaning up – a testament to his independence and determination.

Outside of his daily tasks, Jose finds comfort in sensory activities, especially his weighted blanket and kinetic sand, which help him relax and stay focused. Jose also enjoys riding in the van and going on outings in the community.

As Jose prepares to graduate, we celebrate his hard work, perseverance, and growth. Congratulations, Jose! We are so proud of you and excited to see what the future holds.

Sargent Center to Join The Autism Project's Imagine Walk

April is World Autism Month, a time to celebrate, support, and raise awareness for the autism community. This year, we have a team participating in The Autism Project’s Imagine Walk & Family Fun Day on Sunday, April 27th!

The Imagine Walk is The Autism Project’s largest annual fundraiser, directly supporting individuals with autism and related social-emotional or communication challenges.

How Can You Help?

We invite you to join us in making a difference!

  • Join Our Team: Walk alongside Sargent Center staff, families, and friends to raise awareness and funds for this important cause. We will establish a meeting place for our team as the event gets closer.

  • Donate: Every contribution, big or small, directly benefits The Autism Project and the families they support. Your generosity will help create more opportunities for individuals with autism to thrive.

This World Autism Month, let’s stand together, walk together, and make a difference. Help us support The Autism Project and ensure that all individuals with autism have access to the resources and opportunities they deserve.
