Student Spotlights

Michael F: Congratulations on your Graduation!

Michael has a smile and laugh that can brighten the day of anyone he meets. He loves listening to music (especially Christmas music and Elvis Presley), swimming in his pool at home, and bouncing on his yoga ball.

While at Sargent Center, Michael has made huge strides in his verbal communication and learned to advocate for himself and his needs, like asking for water or going to the bathroom. He has also showed increased independence with his functional routines throughout his day. Michael has gone out into the community for job trials at Teamworks, Walmart, and Stop and Shop, as well as taking trips to the post office to mail letters.

After graduation, Michael plans to attend a day program where he will continue to go out in the community and enjoy leisure activities. We wish Michael the best and know his smile and laugh will continue to inspire those around him.

Congratulations, Michael!

TJ: Congratulations on your Graduation!

TJ has grown significantly in his time at the Sargent Center. At first, TJ never minded sitting at his desk and completing assignments but was hesitant to participate in functional tasks or activities. With a few adjustments, and once those tasks became meaningful to him, TJ’s progress was astounding. TJ worked hard and took ownership over his daily schedule and routines.

Today, TJ can independently wash/dry/fold/put away laundry, vacuum his living space, wash windows, wipe down furniture, set and clear a table, load/run/unload a dishwasher, restock household and office supplies, as well as complete a variety of job skills. And he successfully completed a work trial in the community this past year! These are all significant victories and show the incredible progress he has made.

TJ is going to be sorely missed and we wish him the best as he embarks on the next chapter of his life.

Congratulations, TJ!
