Advance Reconciliation for Culture Days

Culture Days is taking place September 23 – October 16, and SaskCulture is once again offering Culture Days Hub Sponsorships of up to $5,000 to help support the continued growth of Culture Days hubs around the province. This year, hub applications with activities and programming that advance Truth and Reconciliation (TRC) as part of September 30th, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, will be prioritized. TRC hub events and activities must be meaningful, engaging and planned in partnership with First Nations and/or Métis people and/or communities. Applicants can contact Shelley Fayant with any questions or to request an online application form.

NEWS

Celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day

National Indigenous Peoples Day is celebrated each year on June 21st, the summer solstice. First Nations, Métis and Inuit people hold special events and activities on this day to share and celebrate the richness, diversity and beauty of their cultures and languages, and to celebrate and raise awareness about their histories, achievements and contributions to the social and cultural fabric of Canada.

The Indigenous Awareness Hub on SaskCulture's website highlights a collection of events taking place throughout Saskatchewan to mark and celebrate this special day. It also contains resources and information to help individuals, and organizations, begin or continue to learn and plan concrete actions on building Truth and Reconciliation.

4 Seasons of Reconciliation Training Available

Presented through RBC in partnership with First Nations University of Canada (FNUC) and Reconciliation Education, this self-paced online program offers 10 modules on Truth and Reconciliation and is available free to all Canadians. "Students were able to tap into community resources, instead of finding information on the internet that may or may not be reliable; this program supports learning in the classroom, in the ambassador’s own voice, experience, and teachings about the culture."
