SaskCulture Launches New Small Grant Accessibility Program
The Small Grant Accessibility Program aims to provide support for new cultural initiatives that respond to emerging needs or changes in the cultural sector, including youth-led and development-focused activities. This grant, which provides up to $2,000, is designed to support small-scale, more time-sensitive initiatives, and increase access to first-time, unincorporated and/or under-served applicants. SaskCulture Welcomes New Members to the Board of Directors
SaskCulture held its Annual General Meeting on Friday, June 18 through a digital meeting. At the AGM, four new directors were selected to sit on the board:

SaskCulture Board Chair Recognized with National Award
James Ingold, SaskCulture's Board of Directors Chair, was recognized by the 2021 Business/Arts Awards through being awarded the Arnold Edinborough Award. Named after the founding president of Business/Arts, the award is presented to a young business professional who has demonstrated exemplary volunteer leadership and volunteerism in the arts.
Culture Days in Saskatchewan 2021
SaskCulture is still accepting applications for its Culture Days Hub Sponsorship opportunity. Sponsorships of up to $5,000 are available for Culture Days hubs (two or more community partners working together to hold free and engaging arts and culture activities for the public from September 24 – October 24, 2021). Interested applicants can email Shelley Fayant, SaskCulture communications consultant, for more details and information on how to apply.

Celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day
National Indigenous Peoples Day takes place every year on June 21, but every day is a good day to learn about and celebrate the varied and distinct Indigenous peoples, cultures and traditions throughout Canada. Check out the following films by Indigenous filmmakers and learn more about the unique experiences, perspectives and resilience of First Nations, Métis and Inuit people and communities:

Residential School Memorial Site will be Place for Reflection and Education
At a ceremony held on National Indigenous Peoples Day, Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty announced plans to move forward with a memorial site to be established on the ground of Government House. Initial planning for the memorial has been done in collaboration with Indigenous Elders, traditional knowledge keepers, and community members to ensure cultural relevance. Further discussions on the design are continuing to ensure a collaborative approach to the memorial.
Nominations Open for 2021 Lieutenant Governor Heritage Awards
The Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan Heritage Awards are now accepting nominations for 2021. Nominations are accepted in four categories: Community Development, Public Outreach, Physical Heritage Conservation, and Intangible Cultural Heritage. Deadline for submissions in August 27, 2021.
