In this edition we recap April, May and June activities which included Tradeshows, Dig Safe Month, WorkSafe Grade 9 Career Days and Board and Committee updates.
The SCGA and Sask 1st Call teamed up at the following tradeshows in Regina, always a great opportunity to talk Dig Safe:

  1. Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities Annual Convention and Trade Show - March 15-17, 2022, and,
  2. Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association Annual Convention and Trade Show - April 3-6, 2022.

The Saskatchewan Common Ground Alliance (SCGA) Public Awareness and Education Committee (PAEC) has been established to assess, develop and deliver the best ways to promote Dig Safe awareness and education programs to our stakeholders.

PAEC executes April’s National Dig Safe month campaign. The Contractor Dig Safe Breakfast program is a signature initiative of Dig Safe Month and continues with support from 21 industry sponsors who have a goal of preventing unnecessary damages and injuries due to unsafe digging practices.

Our Target Audience is not only the contractors but the general public (i.e. homeowners) and any others that dig. Frontline workers are key to ensure best practices are followed when beginning to disturb the ground.

The SCGA 2022 Contractor Dig Safe Breakfast program was a virtual outreach event supported by additional awareness activities including an advertising campaign (social, radio and television) and contesting for a Dig Safe Delivery Breakfast prize package. The videos for 2022 were:

  1. Abandoned Lines - views as of June 30 = 707
  2. Youth Ground Disturbance Program - views as of June 30 = 292
  3. Who’s Responsible? - views as of June 30 = 388
