March is One Book, One Province month in Saskatchewan.
Join us as we read Blanket Toss Under Midnight Sun

One Book, One Province aims to increase literacy and to create a reading culture by providing opportunities for residents to become more socially engaged in their community through a shared story. One Book, One Province encourages Saskatchewan’s social, economic and cultural development while supporting libraries and collaboration.

Blanket Toss Under Midnight Sun by Paul Seesequasis is a collection of eight portraits of everyday life in Indigenous communities from across North America, shown through never-before-published archival photographs – a gorgeous extension of Paul Seesequasis’s popular social media project.
Throughout the month of March, libraries across the province will be hosting book clubs, virtual readings, and moderated conversations with Paul Seesequasis. Details are on the SLA website.

The launch event at Government House hosted by His Honour Russ Mirasty can be seen here.

Four short readings by Paul Seesequasis from Blanket Toss Under Midnight Sun can be see here:

Call for Participation: National Survey of French Language Collection Development in Public Libraries in Minority Language Settings
Dear Colleagues,
We are inviting you to participate in a national survey of French language collection development in public libraries in a linguistic minority situation. We are conducting the survey to bring a new disciplinary understanding of an area of professional work that has not previously been studied and to identify success factors that might aid libraries in future collection development decisions. The results of the survey will be published as a scholarly article in an open-access peer-reviewed disciplinary journal. Read More

Everyone, Including Culture, Wins When You Buy Lottery Tickets

The core funding that SLA receives through SaskCulture is part of the Lottery Trust where a percentage of every lottery ticket sold goes to support sport, culture and recreation groups within Saskatchewan. It appears that recent lottery sales are not meeting expectations, which will not have an immediate effect on SLA. However we encourage you to remind audiences and arts council members that buying lottery tickets benefits the entire community. Saskatchewan Lotteries has also launched an app that you can download in the App Store or Google Play. More information is available on the Saskatchewan Lotteries website.
The Saskatchewan Library Association gratefully acknowledges the support of our funding agencies.
