Local History Project to be Featured at Satilla Regional Library System
The public is invited to attend a seminar spotlighting the work of an award-winning oral history project that explores the early years of the desegregation of the Coffee County schools. The event presented by the Coffee County Historical Society and the Coffee County Memory Project is set for 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 16, at the Satilla Regional Library on East Ashley Street in Downtown Douglas. The Library is hosting the event which is free of charge.
This event focuses on key moments in the history of Coffee High School as told by people who made that history. "All Together Now” Bomb Threats, Boycott Parties and Desegregation - School Year 1969-1970, “We had no mascot. We had no homecoming.”
The series is supported by the Georgia Association of Museums, the Community Foundation of Coffee County, and Georgia Humanities. For more information, please contact Jim Cottingham, Dalton King, Rodney McElveen, or Carol Morgan.

Mark your calendars for a can't miss opportunity! The Wiregrass Artists Guild will be offering the Children's Art Festival on Saturday, March 16th from 10 am till 3 pm.
If you have not experienced it, then you must come and check it out. There will be plenty of creative activities, demonstrations, and entertainment in Downtown Douglas!

Our Spring Library Art Show Reception that will be held at the Douglas-Coffee County Library on Friday, April 12th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There will be light refreshments served at the reception, and a lot of fine art to enjoy! The Wiregrass Artists Guild and local students will be the featured artists.
The Spring Library Art Show will be available for viewing from Friday, April 12th, at the reception, until Monday, April 15th. From Saturday, April 13th through Monday, April 15th the hours for the art show will be when the Douglas-Coffee County Library is open to the public.
We have a lot of talented artists in our area, and you do not want to miss the opportunity to check out their artwork. There will be a variety of artwork, such as painting, photography, and mixed media formats.

Come and celebrate your favorite heroes and villains of Anime, Manga, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Comics, Graphic Novels, Marvel, DC, and Card Games at our Second Annual Satilla-Con. Saturday, April 20th from 10AM to 2PM at the Douglas-Coffee County Library, Pearson Library, and the Willacoochee Library.
We have a variety of activities for different ages, and a cosplay/costume contest at our Douglas-Coffee County Library, Pearson Library, and Willacoochee Library.

We are pleased that the Shadowcrest chapter of Amtgard based in Hazelhurst will be joining us.
Step into the mystical world of Amtgard. This international medieval fantasy LARP is family friendly and a great source of learning and displaying skills such as leatherworking, art, and sewing. Shadowcrest chapter based in Hazlehurst GA.

We are pleased to offer another resource to help with early literacy. We want Hooked on Phonics, as one of the many resources that we offer, to help your child or grandchild learn to read. You can help prepare your child for success in reading, school, and life by reading to them and using our early literacy resources (Hooked on Phonics, ABCMouse at Home, eRead Kids, and Tumblebooks).
Hooked on Phonics is not a web based resource, so we need parents / guardians to request access for this resource. All parents / guardians and children getting access to this resource must live in either Coffee or Atkinson Counties.
Getting Started:
- Stop by the Douglas Library, or one of our libraries, to request access
- Download the Hooked on Phonics app
- Enter the login credentials we provide you*
*Please note all requests will be processed in the Douglas-Coffee County Library, and once we verify that you have a valid Satilla Regional Library card, or PLAY card, and live in either Coffee or Atkinson Counties then we will provide you with login credentials.

Brainfuse HelpNow provides online tutoring for students in grades K-12 and adult learners. Students communicate with live tutors using an interactive whiteboard to chat, write, draw, copy/paste text or images and graph homework problems. All live sessions are saved and can be replayed as well as shared with friends and teachers by email. Live tutors are available every day from 2 PM – 11 PM.
*Note: You will need to use your Satilla Regional Library card and PIN to access.

Tumblebooks is a curated collection of children’s e-books, with over 1,400 titles for grades K-6, and this includes animated talking picture books, read-along chapter books, National Geographic videos, non-fiction books, as well as books in Spanish and French.

eRead Kids: Build confidence and reading skills, and have fun with eRead Kids, a new digital library available through all public libraries in the state. Young readers have access to almost 15,000 electronic and audiobooks. This free collection of ebooks and audiobooks is for kids in pre-K to fourth grade. | | |
Hoopla allows you to check out a great selection of ebooks, audiobooks, movies, television shows, comics, and music with your computer, tablet, or smartphone.
Note: You must have a Satilla Regional Library Card and you can check out 10 items per month. Also, you can select Kid Mode to only offer younger child-friendly resources.
