Q: if I can no longer afford internet, how do I submit my hours?
A: Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) can be submitted through a mobile device, tablet or computers. Through mobile devices, time can be submitted off WiFi or through cellular towers. There are other avenues for internet assistance. You can contact your service provider to see if alternative financing is available. SEIU Healthcare also has a stipend available, please visit their website for more information.
Q: How do I know who my program specialist is?
A: To find out who your program specialist is, contact 800-829-7110 to ask who the specialist is for the participant you’re calling about.
Q: if my computer isn’t working correctly is there another way to log my hours at the end of the day?

Q: can I see my paystubs and PTO balance on the EVV app?
A: At this time, no. Workers will need to log into ADP to obtain all payroll information including check stubs and W-2s.
Q: Will the 500 ft rule for EVV prevent me from being able to run errands for my mother, who I care for?
A: No, a worker can clock in and out outside of the 500ft range. MRCI strongly encourages the participant/participant representative to contact MRCI for situations in which a worker may be clocking in or out away from the participant’s home.
Q: I struggle with all the abbreviations and acronyms. Can you spell them out more in documents?
A: We can certainly try to spell things out more. We also have a great Self-Direction Glossary on our website that is very helpful.

New Minnesota State Law: Sick and Safe Statute MN 181.9413
Effective Jan. 1, 2024, Minnesota’s earned sick and safe time law requires employers to provide paid leave to employees who work in the state of Minnesota. Sick and safe time is paid leave employers must provide to employees, regardless of the number of employees, in Minnesota that can be used for certain reasons, including when an employee is sick, to care for a sick family member or to seek assistance if an employee or their family member has experienced domestic abuse.
An employee earns one hour of sick and safe time for every 30 hours worked and can earn a maximum of 48 hours each year and will be paid out at the employee’s current rate of pay when used. The accumulation rate is same as the Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit for workers under the collective bargaining agreement (programs of CDCS, CSG and PCA Choice).
What can sick and safe time be used for?
· Employee’s mental or physical illness, treatment or preventive care;
· If injury of employee or employee immediate family* occurs;
· Absence due to domestic abuse, sexual assault or stalking of the employee or a family member;
· If public emergency arises.
*Immediate family is as defined: child, adult child, foster child, spouse, sibling,
parent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandchild, grandparent, or stepparent.
The law requires employers to allow the workers request for sick and safe time as the worker needs. The accumulation of hours will appear on the worker’s pay stub which can be accessed through ADP after pay days.
For workers who fall under the Collective Bargaining Agreement and have opted out of PTO previously, MRCI strongly encourages families to connect with their County Case Manager under the program of CDCS to ensure there enough funds within all budget lines including taxes as the state law does require the leave.
MRCI will send notification to all workers in December with a timesheet for workers.

Home Care Recruitment & Retention Stipend
|
|
All workers in Union programs (PCA Choice, CSG, CDCS, and CFSS Budget Model) now qualify for a one-time $1,000 retention stipend after six (6) months of work! This includes PCAs, Family Caregivers, and Paid Parents.
Workers may also qualify for an EVV Stipend ($200), Training Stipend ($500), rate increases, and COVID Hazard Back-Pay.

2023 W-2s
2023 W-2s will be mailed out to employees in January to the address we have on file. W-2s can also be found online anytime using your ADP account.
If the client you work with has switched from the PCA Choice/245D program (MRCI is employer) to CDCS (client is employer), or vice versa during the year, then you will receive 2 W-2s showing income from each program. You will need to use both documents for your tax purposes.

From all of us here at CDS, we THANK YOU for an incredible 2023. We know this year has had some challenges, such as the State mandated implementation of EVV.
With that being said, we are looking forward to a bright 2024! Minimum wage increases and sick and safe leave are wonderful benefits from the state that caregivers so desperately deserve.

Last month we asked if you make resolutions for the new year, and the results are in... Most of you (33.3%) said No, I don't. In 2nd place, at 25.6%, we have I make resolutions years round, not just for the new year! Lastly, a tie for 3rd and 4th! Always! And I stick to them and Yeah, but I don't achieve them all rang in at 20.5% each. Stay tuned for the results of the season survey next month!

Each year MRCI is required to assign training to all workers under the 245D programs of Individualized Home Supports (IHS) formerly known as Personal Supports, Respite, and now Homemaker. Below is the calendar of when the training will be assigned.
Training is assigned in the beginning of the month and is due by the last day of the month. If your worker does not complete the training they will be temporarily suspended and not able to clock in or out through the app, or be paid for the time worked until complete.
