Greetings!
Join your fellow members for the Green Mountain Region’s final 2021 driving tours and annual meeting on Saturday, October 30. There will be two tours on that day - one from the greater Burlington area and the second from South/Central Vermont. Both tours will end at the Sugarbush Resort in Warren where we will gather at the School House located adjacent to the Sugarbush Clay Brook Hotel for lunch and our Annual Meeting.
The Details:
Greater Burlington Area Tour. This short tour is being organized and led by Lou Krieg & Ann Pettyjohn. Their route will take us through the Appalachian Gap, over lots of brand new pavement, plenty of "twisty bits" and elevation changes.
The gathering point will be at the Southbound I-89 Information Center (rest area) in Williston, just south of Exit 12. Among the villages the tour will pass through are Richmond, Hinesburg, Starksboro and Buell's Gore, past Mad River Glen, Fayston and into Warren and the Sugarbush Resort. Driving time will be about 1 hour 15 minutes.
Participants should plan to arrive at the above-mentioned Information Center by 9.45am.
The tour will depart from the Information Center at approximately 10.30am and will be preceded by sign-in and the drivers meeting.
Lunch is scheduled to begin at 12.30pm with the Annual Meeting taking place concurrently. We expect be done by 2.00pm.
South/Central Tour. This tour is being organized and led by David Whittall. The start location is the Green Mountain Railroad at 563 Depot Street in Chester VT. Drivers meeting and sign in at 9am. Departure from Chester will be at 9.30am. Arrival at the Sugarbush Resort will be by 12.15pm.
While the final route is still being finalized we will start in Chester and proceed up Sugarbush passing through Ludlow, Plymouth, Stockbridge, Hancock and Granville before arriving at the Sugarbush Resort.
Lunch. The buffet lunch will be served at the School House located adjacent to the Sugarbush Clay Brook Hotel and will begin at 12.30pm. The annual meeting will take place concurrently with lunch and we expect to be done by 2:00pm.
The menu includes three entrées - Lobster & Baby Shrimp Roll on a New England bun, Montreal Grilled Chicken Breast on Ciabatta bread and a Hummus & Roasted Vegetable Wrap. These will be accompanied by mixed green and pasta salads, whole fruit, soft drinks and fresh baked cookies. The cost for lunch is $40/person.
