CAN A CHRISTIAN HATE?

These past few months of lockdowns, masks, lack of various household items, job losses, and loss of income for various reasons has left a lot of people angry. It seems that everyone wants to blame someone other than themselves for what is happening.  The hatred that is being manifested throughout the “church” is growing every day.

As a Pastor, I have been preparing those in our ministry for well over 15 years to prepare, prepare, prepare. Not just spiritually, but physically and financially for hard times. Many of those people are not financially able to do much, but they have put away what they could for hard times. God has spoken that there would be hard days coming throughout scripture, and especially in the book of Revelation. Many in the American Church have shrugged it off, believing that God would never bring “America” to its knees. Yet that is exactly what has happened.

Yesterday we learned that our President and his wife have contracted Covid19. I would not wish that on anyone. Many have asked others to pray for him and his wife. Yet, I have seen many posts on social media that actually have said they would hope that he would die. Some of these people actually call themselves “Christians.” I admit that our President does not always do and say what I would like him to do, but he is a baby Christian, and he is a brother. He has been a businessman in the world since he was a youth, made a lot of worldly choices, and yet God put him in office as President. (Daniel 2:21). Since he has been in office he has done more for Israel and for Christians than any previous president for decades. Yes, he is crude, but does this give us the right to hate him?

What does the scripture have to say about this? In I John 4:20 it says, “If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?” There is no room for hatred of mankind in a Christian. We can hate sin, but never hate the sinner. Do you have this kind of hatred of mankind manifesting in your life? If you do, I suggest that you repent. We are also told the greatest gift is love. Love loves the unlovely and prays that they will change. Love draws people to God.

For those haters: The blame game started in the garden of Eden. It didn’t work for Adam and it won’t work for you. We must have pure hearts before God. If we don’t forgive and love others, then God can’t forgive us. He will love us enough to turn us over to the tormentors for our bitter unforgiving choices. That is justice. A merciful God will forgive those with a repentant heart. Can a Christian hate? Yes. A Christian can hate sin, but not a brother.

THE BIBLICAL FALL FEASTS – PART 18
THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES – SUKKOT (part 4)

Today is the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot, Booths, Rejoicing) which is an eight-day event. This first day is a high holy sabbath day which ends at sundown today. The following seven days are spent living in booths, feasting, and celebrating. The Feast of Tabernacles speaks two things to the Jews. First, it celebrates how God’s presence dwelled with them in the Holy of Holies in the Tabernacle of the Congregation, then in the Temple. Second, it looks forward to the time when Messiah will come to rule the earth in Jerusalem with a rebuilt Temple. He will again “tabernacle” with His chosen covenant people on Mount Zion (Jerusalem) to rule and reign. This prophetic “hope” of Messiah is one reason this eight-day celebration is sometimes seen as a “Feast of Rejoicing.”

Christians and Messianic Jews can rejoice because Messiah (Jesus Christ) has already “tabernacled” within us as believers. I Corinthians 3:16 (NKJV) says, “Do you not know that you are the temple (tabernacle) of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” It is by the Holy Spirit sent by Jesus from the Father that Messiah, Jesus dwells within you. You have Christ “tabernacled “in your being.

Yet, there is still the prophetic future when Messiah will return to earth to rule and reign for a thousand years. He will “tabernacle” on earth during the “Millennial Reign.” There is also a prophetic fulfillment that I believe happened historically over 2,000 years ago. That is likely when Messiah “tabernacled” with us on earth in a manger in Bethlehem. This probably occurred during the period of the Feast of Tabernacles as a prophetic fulfillment as God brought Messiah to dwell among us physically in human form. When the child grew to be a man, he preached the kingdom of heaven and backed it up with thousands of miracles, signs, and wonders. His sacrificial death (shed blood) and resurrection to life provide the way for his life (spirit) to “tabernacle” within us.

This would account for his 3-1/2 years of active ministry on earth. He was likely born on the Feast of Tabernacles and died (his sacrificial redeeming blood) on Passover.

Unfortunately, most Christians think he was born on December 25. That is impossible. That falsehood was perpetrated at the Nicene council in 325 A.D. for reasons that had nothing to do with the Bible, choosing instead to align a “birth holiday” with pagan holidays.

We rejoice that He “tabernacled” among us two millennia ago. We rejoice even more that He “tabernacles” with us today. We rejoice for the future time when He will once again “tabernacle among us” in the Millennial Reign and then again in the New Jerusalem.
