Touring the Green Mountain State Since 1986!
Greetings!

In this newsletter we have the latest info on the great tour planned for Saturday, August 15 as well as hotel and cocktail party info if you plan to arrive the evening of Friday August 14. Thanks to Events Chair Duffy Miller and especially to member Bob Rubin who has mapped it out. Route and turn-by-turns are linked below.

We need to get a count of how many members and guests to expect for the tour. Please respond yes or no, and indicate if you plan to go down on Friday August 14, by emailing: [email protected]

NOTE: All members and guests for the tour must sign a waiver for the tour and a Covid 19 waiver. Please download and sign those in the box below and bring them with you. If you already turned in a Covid waiver on the July tour, that is sufficient for the season.

We hope to see our new members soon (scroll down for names & cars).

Safe Driving!

Saturday August 15 Tour Details

From Events Chair Duffy Miller:

Tour of Southern Vermont, led by club member Bob Rubin

8:30 a.m. Gather at the Gray Ghost Inn, 290 Route 100 North, West Dover

8:45 a.m. Drivers' meeting

9:00 a.m. Engine start and drive-off

The August GMR PCA club event is a tour of southern Vermont, put together and led by Bob Rubin. The driving tour will start and end at the Gray Ghost Inn in West Dover. The approximately 120 mile drive covers much of the southern area of the state, and will take about 3 - 4 hours total driving time, which will include three stops for rest rooms, stretches, and coffee. Route maps will be printed out and available at the drivers’ meeting.

Members planning to attend the drive should be at the start location by 8:30am. The drivers’ meeting will be held at 8:45 a.m. and the drive will start promptly at 9 a.m. When the drive concludes upon return to West Dover, members are welcome to tour the towns of Wilmington, Dover, West Dover, and Whitingham. This area is home to the Mount Snow Ski Area, and has an abundance of restaurants available for lunches and / or dinners after the drive.

All members / participants of GMR PCA club events are required to sign the Communicable Disease Waiver and Infection Assumption of Risk form, which is provided in this email above. One form must be completed for each participant; e.g. drivers and riders must both submit a completed form. You only have to complete this form once a year, so if you participated in the July driving tour and turned in your form then, you do not need to complete a form for this event. If you have a rider who has not completed the form, please have him/her do so.

Additionally, all participants must sign the usual Waiver of Liability form, also available above. To expedite the drivers’ meeting, please download this form, print your name, sign and date the form and bring that with you. Both passenger and rider must sign this form. All forms will be collected and “witnessed” at the drivers’ meeting. If people have trouble downloading either of the forms, there will be blank forms available.

For members who are planning to attend the drive from northern areas of the state, the Gray Ghost Inn is offering rooms to members for Friday night, August 14th. Room rates are very reasonable and include breakfast. Contact the Gray Ghost Inn directly to make a room reservation; call 802-464-2474 for reservations, or visit their website  https://www.grayghostinn.com

Please note, staying at the inn Friday evening is an “on your own” event, and not part of the club driving tour. We do appreciated Bob’s work to coordinate a place for members to stay if driving down in the morning would be too prohibitive given the distance.

For those members staying at the inn Friday night, Bob is arranging a distanced cocktail party from 6 to 8 p.m. with light snacks and refreshments (some beer, wine and soda). Please help reimburse Bob with $5.00 to defray those costs. Or you can bring your own -- the Inn does not sell alcohol.

Bob's wife Sindy Hassig and her son Carson are providing entertainment with guitars and singing!

On Saturday, after returning to the starting point at the Gray Ghost, members may want to have an afternoon lunch. Bob suggests the following among nice restaurants in the area, most with outdoor dining:

-Dot's Restaurant
-The Last Chair
-The One Republic
-The West Dover Inn

Masks and social distancing of course will be observed where required.

Hope to see you there! PLEASE SIGN UP by replying to [email protected]

Let us know if you plan to come on Friday, Saturday only, or not at all.

Regards,

Duffy Miller
Events Chair
