If you love traditional Globe Amaranths (Gomphrena spp.) like our Globe Amaranth Mixture and the ever-so-popular Strawberry Fields Globe Amaranth, you're in for a surprise with this unique, relatively new variety. Fireworks Globe Amaranth's vivid flowers are bigger and looser—1" to 1½", hot pink starbursts tipped in gold—and they weave in and out of a bed gorgeously from early summer through fall.
The plants are sturdy and branching, grow up to four feet tall, and are amazingly easy to grow, low-maintenance and drought-tolerant. They love hot, baking sun, attract hummingbirds and butterflies in droves, and make wonderful cut and dried flowers. What more could one say about a plant? It's a true superstar—a wonder of floral pyrotechnics!
Globe Amaranths can be direct-sown outdoors in warm climates, but in cooler climates, they should be started indoors several weeks before transplanting out into the garden after the threat of frost has passed. They love full sun and moist, well-drained soil for the strongest foliage and best blooms. Combine them with brightly colored Zinnias for a dose of pure happiness!
