Mary of Magdala Announcements

Join Table for 4 Now!

The Hospitality Ministry is offering the last time to join a “Table for 4” in 2025. This is an opportunity to get to know

other members of Mary of Magdala in smaller groups. Table for 4 is open to singles and couples.

Here’s how it works:

First, participants are arranged into a group of 4 (or 6 depending on responses). Second, the Table for 4 group decides whether to go out to breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, drinks, etc. Then, each Table will also find an agreeable date to meet one time during the months of August or September. And finally, you get to go out with a nice group of people and enjoy the time together.

If you are interested, select the RESERVE button below by August 10th. You will be contacted by the Hospitality Team regarding your Table of 4. Any questions please email or call Joan Chapman-Smith. jcs1320@gmail.com or (970) 224-0297

For reference, Table for 4 will be offered again in January/February 2026.

Where is the Spirit taking us?

2nd Regional Synod

Rocky Mountain Region of the ECC

October 11, 2025

at Light of Christ

Great news!  The Rocky Mountain Region of the Ecumenical Catholic Communion is having our second regional Holy Synod on Saturday October 11, 2025 at Light of Christ (1000 W 15th Ave, Longmont).

Put this event on your calendar now, because you won’t want to miss it. It will be a prayerful day for all 5 Colorado ECC communities to gather together for prayer, Mass, a meal, and to be inspired by our keynote speaker Fr. Scott Jenkins.

More details will be coming over the next few months, so keep watching your church’s bulletin for how to register. But today, make sure to set aside October 11th, all day, to gather as the Body of Christ and ask “Where is the Spirit taking us?” If you have any questions, you can talk to or contact Tom Moos (tjmoos@aol.com), David Cloyd (dcloyd@prodigy.net), or Mother Rosean (motherrosean@gmail.com).

Last call for help!

There is a planning team representing each community hard at work organizing the Regional Synod for EVERYONE. Now we are looking for folks to help with the work teams that will be needed for that day, and for some particular planning.  These teams include:

  • Hospitality – help orient people throughout the day, put out snacks and drinks, create name tags, etc.
  • Registration – help register people before the event, and then check them in the day of the event
  • Lunch – plan, setup, serve and cleanup for lunch
  • Liturgy – plan the closing Liturgy for the day, with presider Bishop Kae, including blessing of Chrism oils.
  • Music – musicians and vocalists needed for Mass.  We anticipate a rehearsal sometime during the week prior to Synod

To volunteer for any of these work teams, please contact Tom Moos, David Cloyd or Mother Rosean by the end of July, with the contact information enclosed above.

A Prayer to Share on Hope

Pastoral Care Training Session

Expanding pastoral care within our communities could be a great asset.

Recognizing the desire of ECC Pastors to expand pastoral care within their church communities, this interactive training provides insights and practices designed to help lay people make visits to other community members, offering them additional caring contact beyond that which the priest gives.  It also considers ways to support the pastor and other clergy in the community.

Content: The 4- hour session is made up of modules which are entitled as follows...

a. Why Provide pastoral care?

b. Assuring confidentiality

c. Sharing prayer and Eucharist

d. Providing a listening ear (both active and reflective)

e. Maintaining healthy boundaries

f. Vetting volunteers for lay pastoral care ministry

g. Clergy support.

The training will be held on Saturday August 23rd , from 10am to 2pm at Church of the Beloved, 10500 Grant Drive, Northglenn, CO.

The training will be open to everyone in the Rocky Mountain Region who is interested.

Chuck Cooper and Mary Franch, from Light of Christ ECC, are happy to bring this training session to the Rocky Mountain Region of the ECC. Both are experienced and trained Stephen Ministers and Stephen Ministry leaders. Mary also served as Lay Pastoral Associate at Light of Christ for many years and Chuck has been the Parish Council Staff Liaison in support of LOC’s pastor.

Non-critical pastoral care offers extra support for folks that just need a listening ear. It also makes a huge difference in support of the pastor. This is not a zoom telecast. Attend in person at COB. RSVP to Mother Rosean.

Come to the High Plains Chautauqua!

Mark your calendars!

We are excited for this year’s High Plains Chautauqua, which will run from August 4 to 8, 2025, at the Aims Community College Welcome Center. This year’s theme is “America in the 20th Century” and will feature a special lineup of notables from the “American Century,” as some have called it.

For more information on this year’s activities, or to learn more about past High Plains Chautauqua festivals, please visit their website here.

301 Faith Partners

SAVE THE DATE! 0KTOBERFEST 2025 – SEPTEMBER 27

The 301 Faith Partners at Trinity Lutheran Church are excited about holding our 3rd Annual Oktoberfest Fall Fellowship Celebration and Fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity! And once again, we are inviting our friends from Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church and Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church to join us.

This event is a fun way for us to get together on Saturday evening on the 27th of September from 6:30 to 8:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall. There will be beer and brats and lots of other sides, Oktoberfest background music, and a drawing from each table for winning a free stein! And together, we team up and raise money towards one of our social justice areas- Habitat for Humanity. We will hear about the latest progress of home building for families that are approved to own their own home here in Fort Collins!

Hear from the newly chosen families of their joy who actually help to build their homes. Come join us! Yes, to provide enough for everyone, we need everyone to RSVP as soon as possible. And indeed, we will need your help! Watch for the Signup Genius that will show what ways you can help out or

what dishes to bring. That will appear in your church weekly letters.

301 Faith Partners August Get-Together

The August 14 meeting will be held at New Belgium brewery, located at 500 Linden St. in Fort Collins 80524. Join up between 3:30 PM - whenever. We’re usually done by 5:30 PM. No RSVP.

We are not exclusive! Bring your partner!

Saints & Sinners Golf Group

Saints & Sinners Golf Group is back for the 2025 summer season! We plan to play nine holes on three Friday mornings and then gather for snacks and fellowship. Tee times will be reserved at Northern Colorado courses, most within 30 minute drive of Fort Collins. We are a small but committed group. If you would like to join the group, send an email to Donna.

Saint Paul's and Mary of Magdala members are invited to join this Trinity small group ministry. Our upcoming play date is September 12.

Join the 301 Quilters!

Would you like to be a part of the 301 Quilting small group, but you have some concerns like:

I can’t sew! That’s not a problem. There are many tasks that need to be done without touching a sewing machine. We have people in the group that have never used a sewing machine.

I can’t be on my feet for that length of time. We have a solution for that. The main task of tying knots once a quilt is assembled, can be done sitting with the quilt on a table in front of you.

I can’t commit to every Friday. No worries, we all have appointments, family visits, travels that keep us from attending every week. We come when we are able and in town.

I’d be the only male in a female group. That’s not true. We have one faithful male that comes most weeks.

I’d be the only person from my congregation. Actually, we have at least one person from each of the 3 congregations. It is truly a 301 group.

Hopefully, these solutions have eased your hesitation and you’ll be more willing to join us. We’re a fun, caring small group that has a purpose of aiding those in need. Join us any Friday in Room 2 from 10:00 to noon.

Chapter Two Book Group

For our August meeting we will read "The First Ladies" by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray.

"A novel about the extraordinary partnership between First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and civil rights activist Mary McLeod Bethune—an unlikely friendship that changed the world, from the New York Times bestselling authors of the Good Morning America Book Club pick The Personal Librarian."

The meeting will be on Thursday, August 21 at 6 p.m. in the Library/Fireside Room.

We discussed reading the Fort Collins Reads selection, "Lula Dean's Little Library of Banned Books" by Kirsten Miller, in October.

The tickets to hear the author speak at the Fort Collins Marriott on Saturday, November 1 are on sale at Old Firehouse Books. More about this program may be found here.

We all agreed to bring suggestions for our September book to the August meeting. Please make a list of what you're enjoying to share with all of us.
