Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sunday, January 26, 2025

What is love? Gratitude.

What is hidden in our chests?

Laughter. What else? Compassion.

Contribution Statements for 2024

This week the contribution statements for the 2024 tax year have been sent by email with an attached PDF. We send these with deep gratitude for your participation in, and support of our community.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions or believe that the document is in error. Though we do our best to accurately track stewardship and gifts to Mary of Magdala through checks and online contributions, we can make an error. We would be happy to review our records.

A new Bulletin feature - a Social Justice public service.

Welcome to our first listing of "Up To Us Now". We'll start with one link to an issue of social justice. There will be plenty more to come. I'd love to get feedback on this effort. Perhaps there is fodder for healthy and respectful discussion and learning. Email: marymagdalafc@gmail.com

Announcements For Our Shared Ministries,

Activities and Volunteering Opportunities

Volunteers Needed - Building Security

We are looking for several new volunteers to lock up TLC on Fridays and Sundays. The work is easy and takes about a half hour in the evening. You could work as a primary and do it once a week or as a back-up which would be a rare involvement. Thank you for considering this 301 Partners ministry. Please email marymagdalafc@gmail.com

Bloom the Circle

The 301 Property Committee will be starting an initiative called "Bloom The Circle" in order to beautify the circle in front of TLC.

Do you love designing and nurturing beautiful gardens? We need you if you do and would appreciate your talent. More will be known as we leave the throws of winter.

Faith Family Hospitality - Update

Faith Family Hospitality (FFN) also known as Family Housing Network (FHN) will no longer be using the Trinity Lutheran Church building for family overnight housing.

Poudre Fire Department regulations which require the need for overnight fire watchers in lieu of a functional fire sprinkler system has presented an obstacle to our communities' participation on site.

Mary of Magdala will still continue to work with Christ United Methodist Church to provide shelter and support to FFN. Your participation is valued and recognized and the need for continued participation at the other Ft Collins sites is essential for this valued ministry. Thanks to All for past and furture volunteering.

Read with Trinity Readers in 2025!

If your New Year’s resolution is to do more reading

in 2025, consider joining in the discussions of the Trinity morning book group, with the next one being at 9:30 a.m. in the Fireside Room on February 3. We will be looking at the issue of the oppression of women by discussing Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. The authors call this the “paramount moral challenge” of the present era.

Come every month, or just when the book interests you. Questions?

Call Nadine Hunt at 970-825-3730.

Volunteering at Irish Elementary

Are you interested in having a rewarding, making-a-difference experience? Please consider listening to a child who needs help with reading. We need reading tutors at Irish Elementary School. We currently have need of a tutor at 10:40 am on Wednesdays.

Although Irish is a bilingual school, you do not need to know Spanish to help. If you spend 30-45 minutes a week helping a child read, you’ll be rewarded knowing that you’ve made a big difference in that child’s life. Please contact Jo Anne Gearhart at gearhartjm@yahoo.com Thank you.

January 26: is Reconciling in Christ Sunday and our conversation will revolve around this topic.

301 Faith Partners Prayer Group

On the last Monday of each month at 10:30 am, the 301 Faith Partners Prayer Group meets to pray for the 301 Faith Partners! The group opens by calling on the Holy Spirit to be present. They then take one of the Core Values of the 301 Faith Partners and reflect on it. Following this, they engage in Lectio Divina and then share their reflections.

They pray for the clergy and leadership bodies of Mary of Magdala, St. Paul’s, and Trinity. They close with a Litany of God’s Mission for the 301 Faith Partners, which was first prayed at the Bishops’ Blessing on May 31, 2023.

301 Quilters Update

The 301 Quilters stay busy making quilts from the donations given to us. We meet each Friday from 10-12 in Room 2. All are welcome and no experience is needed. We'll teach and guide through the quilt making process. Come be a part of this Faith Partner ministry.

Contact Pat at pathw27@gmail.com with any questions.

Chapter 2 Book Club

Thursday January 30 at 6 p.m. in the Fireside Room at Trinity to discuss The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese. (This is a long one if you haven't read it yet and you'd like to join the conversation, I'd suggest starting this one sooner rather than later).

If you are planning to attend, please email Madeline at madeline.b.fairfax@gmail.com to receive a week-of meeting reminder and any last minute changes to plans.
