Mary Magdalene Society of the Ecumenical Catholic Communion
The purpose of our Mary Magdalene Society (MMS) is to have an endowment that creates a permanent financial foundation upon which grants can be made based upon the annual interest earnings. These grants are intended to develop new ECC clergy and increase youth programs within the ECC. With the internal MMS organizational structure now in place, our journey together on the road to building this endowment and making grants moves into a higher gear.
Why We Need Your Support
Our communion is experiencing the need for clergy to sustain our growth. We face the challenge of shepherding our communities into an inclusive future in which all our clergy is representative of the church where all are welcomed and included.
To this end, the Mary Magdalene Society supports:
• Seminarians/clergy who are ECC affiliated, with economic needs
• Student debt relief
• Incardination expenses
• Candidate ordination expenses, and
• ECC youth ministry, service projects
To all clergy – “THANK YOU” for your unselfish and dedicated service to your communities and to the ECC. Know that you are loved and appreciated.
To all parishioners – Please consider making a special direct donation during the month of July to MMS in honor of and in gratitude for the clergy serving your parish community.
If you are able, please send a donation to help ensure the future of the Ecumenical
Catholic Communion to:

Save the Date!!
The Mary of Magdala Adult Education program presents…
Java & Justice Authors’ Talk:
Tales of Memory, Environment, and Justice in Two National Parks
Thursday, August 29, 7-8:30 pm
Fellowship Hall, Trinity Lutheran Church
301 East Stuart, Fort Collins, CO 80525
A common way to think about national parks has been to assume that they are obligated to promote recreation and preservation but have often neglected the latter in favor of the former. Authors Dr. Ruth Alexander and Dr. Jared Orsi move beyond this binary, using the histories of specific national park sites to show how civic engagement, social and environmental justice, remembrance, and belonging have become core park obligations.
| |
Ruth will discuss how she expands our understanding of parks in Democracy’s Mountain: Longs Peak and the Unfulfilled Promises of America’s National Parks. Drawing from his recently published book, Peoples of a Sonoran Desert Oasis: Reclaiming the History and Culture of Quitobaquito, Jared will explore how officials at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument once erased evidence of Indigenous presence from the landscape to preserve a peopleless “wilderness” but more recently have worked with tribes to restore traditional access.
Let’s show our support for these two authors in our midst! Please RSVP to marymagdalafc@gmail.com, or to Mother Rosean.
Coffee and light refreshments will be served. Authors’ books will be available for purchase.

301 Faith Partners - Groups & Ministries | |
301 Faith Partners Prayer Group
On the last Monday of each month at 10:30 am, the 301 Faith Partners Prayer Group meets to pray for the 301 Faith Partners! The group opens by calling on the Holy Spirit to be present. They then take one of the Core Values of the 301 Faith Partners and reflect on it. Following this, they engage in Lectio Divina and then share their reflections.
They pray for the clergy of Mary of Magdala, St. Paul’s, and Trinity, and the leadership bodies of all three congregations. And they close with a Litany of God’s Mission for the 301 Faith Partners, which was first prayed at the Bishops’ Blessing on May 31, 2023.
Habitat for Humanity Opportunities
Come help build: Our next Build Date is Saturday, September 28. Mark your calendars now!
They will probably be 7:45AM - 3:30PM, at the Harmony Cottages development at the SE corner of Harmony and Taft Hill Road, but the time and location (still in Fort Collins) might change. There is no lasting commitment, come out once, or come many times.
Absolutely no experience is needed, and guidance is given by Habitat’s friendly onsite staff. You’ll have a full, rewarding day working alongside future homeowners and volunteers from other local faith communities, and you’ll likely learn a lot. For more information or to get signed up, please email gray.currier@gmail.com or call or text Gray at (970) 962-4057. Preference is given to those who have not been out before.
Help build from a kitchen: Saturday, September 28th, is our 301 Faith Partnership’s turn to provide lunch to the onsite Build Crew. You and others from St Paul’s, Trinity, and Mary of Magdala put your heads together to
| |
plan, provide, and serve the lunch at the Build Site. Usually there are about twenty hungry folks to feed. Hint: frozen lasagna, a salad, and a desert always seem to be a hit, but come up with whatever you want! Contact Gray, as above, and he’ll put you in touch with whoever is leading this very much appreciated culinary effort.
Donate through St Paul’s Habitat Challenge: Just write a check to St Paul’s Episcopal, write “Habitat” on the memo line, and put it into your Sunday plate. Your gift will be doubled by St. Paul's Habitat Challenge Match. up to a total of $5,000 for 2024. It will be acknowledged as a tax-deductible contribution to St Paul’s on an end of year financial statement.
Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, community, and hope. There are so many ways to help… thanks so much for yours!
301 Quilters Update
The 301 Quilters stay busy making quilts from the donations given to us. We meet each Friday from 10-12 in Room 2. All are welcome and no experience is needed. We'll teach and guide through the quilt making process. Come be a part of this Faith Partner ministry.
Contact Pat with any questions.
Trinity Book Group
The Trinity Readers (the TLC morning book group) will meet on Monday, August 5th at 9:30 a.m. in room 2 to continue discussing Life on the Mississippi by Rinker Buck. It chronicles his journey down the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers on a flatboat modeled after those used by pioneers in the 1800s. He also explores the history of that waterway. Open to all! Join the discussion in person or on Zoom.
Questions? Call Nadine Hunt at 970-825-3730.
