12th Sunday of Ordinary Time- Sunday, June 23, 2024

Be a lamp or a lifeboat or a ladder.

Help someone’s soul heal. Walk out of

your house like a shepherd.

-Rumi

On June 23rd, join us at 12:30 pm in the Sanctuary or on Zoom for Sunday Mass with R. Jane Reina presiding.

Lynne Barnes and Linda Joyce are serving as our lectors. Joan Chapman-Smith and Carol Yeazell will serve as our Eucharistic Ministers.

Always gratitude to our marvelous Music Ministry for providing spirit-filled song.

Here is the worship aid (view or print) to assist with prayer.

  • Call-in Audio Only:  +1 669 900 6833
  • Meeting ID: 431 502 816

Zoom attendees: it's helpful if you have any prayer you want to offer, put in the chat early. It is ok to put it in as soon as you check in on zoom. This way we won’t miss any request for prayers!

Also - please have your food and drink ready for communion before mass starts. Communion is an important part of our liturgy and we believe all food is God’s food. It is your intention that makes it communion.

Thanks to FHN Volunteers!

How blessed we are to have so many wonderful volunteers to help our FHN families! This past week was no exception as our MoM volunteers greeted, prepared meals for, shared dinners with, engaged in conversation with, and served as overnight hosts for these families. A big thank you to Anne Beavan, Joan Chapman-Smith, Cindy & David Cloyd, Ralph Dorland, Sandra & Richard Life, Lisa Jones, Carol Yeazell, Jean Christen and Tom Christen, and Lynne Barnes.

Diaper Drive Tomorrow!!

Mary of Magdala is sponsoring a diaper drive for Abbie and Dana Blach, members of our community. They have twin boys, Russell and Dean who are 6 months old and go through a lot of diapers. The preferred diapers are Huggies or Kirkland (but any brand would be appreciated), size 4 and up.

Please bring your offering tomorrow, June 23rd, and meet the family.

Upcoming Leadership Council Meeting Monday

Our Mary of Magdala Leadership Council will meet via Zoom on Monday, June 24th at 6:30 pm.

Any member of Mary of Magdala can attend any open meeting. If you have an interest in attending, please email us at marymagdalafc@gmail.com.

Bike to Work Day is next Wednesday, June 26, from 6:30 to 9:30 am

The 301 Faith Partners Joint Ecological Team is again coordinating a station along the Spring Creek Trail. Volunteers are needed from 5:45 am to 9:30 am. There are early, mid, and late (for cleanup) shifts. Contact Wally Jacobson to volunteer at jacobson.wp@gmail.com.

For more information on the event, go here.

Come and support the 301 Faith Partnership at our PRIDE booth, at the Ranch Event Center on June 29 from 11 am to 5 pm.

Why is this important? Imagine if you yearned to know God and worship God but didn’t feel safe in the churches. Imagine if you struggled with a feeling of not being beloved or accepted by God. Imagine if you had been injured by the Christian church. Imagine someone trying to exorcise your sexuality or prevent you from being who you most truly are. The LGBTQ+ community needs to know that we accept and believe in them as whole human beings beloved by God. HERE is an essay by the Irish poet and theologian Padraig O’Tuama that underscores this.

Come staff our booth for a period of time between 11 am and 5 pm. To sign up for a slot, please contact Mother Rosean at marymagdalafc@gmamil.com

Upcoming Summer Events in Fort Collins

ISAAC of Northern Colorado Presents...

Join us for an hour of music and learning about Larry & Joe's style, which crosses borders lyrically and sonically. Joe Troop is a Grammy-nominated Old Time Music singer-songwriter whose album with latingrass band, Che Apalache, was produced by the amazing Béla Fleck. Larry Bellorín is a legend of Llanera music who fled Venezuela seeking asylum. Relocating to the US, Larry worked long hours in construction, broke his hand in multiple places on the job and thought he'd never play music again.

And yet the universe had other plans, bringing these multi-instrumentalists together to make music on harp, upright bass, banjo, cuatro, fiddle and guitar. Watch more about their story here in this segment on PBS.

Buy your tickets now, as space for this event is very limited! By popular request, we have also unlocked discount tickets for students, seniors and nonprofit staff. Buy your tickets here, and spread the word with friends, family, colleagues and faith communities!

301 Faith Partners - Groups & Ministries

301 Faith Partners Prayer Group

On the last Monday of each month at 10:30 am, the 301 Faith Partners Prayer Group meets to pray for the 301 Faith Partners! The group opens by calling on the Holy Spirit to be present. They then take one of the Core Values of the 301 Faith Partners and reflect on it. Following this, they engage in Lectio Divina and then share their reflections.

They pray for the clergy of Mary of Magdala, St. Paul’s, and Trinity, and the leadership bodies of all three congregations. And they close with a Litany of God’s Mission for the 301 Faith Partners, which was first prayed at the Bishops’ Blessing on May 31, 2023.

Habitat for Humanity Opportunities

Come help build: Our next Build Date is Saturday, September 28. Mark your calendars now!

They will probably be 7:45AM - 3:30PM, at the Harmony Cottages development at

the SE corner of Harmony and Taft Hill Road, but the time and location (still in Fort Collins) might change. There is no lasting commitment, come out once, or come many times.

Absolutely no experience is needed, and guidance is given by Habitat’s friendly onsite staff. You’ll have a full, rewarding day working alongside future homeowners and volunteers from other local faith communities, and you’ll likely learn a lot. For more information or to get signed up, please email gray.currier@gmail.com or call or text Gray at (970) 962-4057. Preference is given to those who have not been out before.

Help build from a kitchen: Saturday, September 28th, is our 301 Faith Partnership’s turn to provide lunch to the onsite Build Crew. You and others

from St Paul’s, Trinity, and Mary of Magdala put your heads together to plan, provide, and serve the lunch at the Build Site. Usually there are about twenty hungry folks to feed. Hint: frozen lasagna, a salad, and a desert always seem to be a hit, but come up with whatever you want! Contact Gray, as above, and he’ll put you in touch with whoever is leading this very much appreciated culinary effort.

Donate through St Paul’s Habitat Challenge: Just write a check to St Paul’s Episcopal, write “Habitat” on the memo line, and put it into your Sunday plate. Your gift will be doubled by St. Paul's Habitat Challenge Match. up to a total of $5,000 for 2024. It will be acknowledged as a tax-deductible contribution to St Paul’s on an end of year financial statement.

Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, community, and hope. There are so many ways to help… thanks so much for yours!

301 Quilters Update

The 301 Quilters stay busy making quilts from the donations given to us. We meet each Friday from 10-12 in Room 2. All are welcome and no experience is needed. We'll teach and guide through the quilt making process. Come be a part of this Faith Partner ministry.

Contact Pat with any questions.

Trinity Book Group

The Trinity Readers (the TLC morning book group) will meet on Monday, July 8, a week later than usual, at 9:30 a.m. in room 2 to discuss Halfway Home by Reuben Jonathan Miller. It is based on the author’s experiences working with men and women who have been newly released from prison. Open to all! Join the discussion in person or on Zoom.

Questions? Call Nadine Hunt at 970-825-3730.
